Pesinet is a not-for-profit international organization delivering a prevention and early-care system for countries lacking medical resources with the objective of driving a systemic change in the healthcare situation of low-income countries and reducing child mortality. Pesinet's mission is to avoid complications of benign diseases that still account for more than 50% of child mortality causes in Africa.
Pesinet was designed to offset the weaknesses of existing public healthcare systems and provide affordable healthcare services to help prevent, detect and treat benign diseases in time thanks to the periodic and cost-efficient monitoring of key health data. Pesinet uses mobile technologies and the proximity work of health agents to reach families where they live and work, and to drive demand for and access to early treatment.
In 2009, the BNP Paribas Foundation and BICIM, the BNP Paribas subsidiary in Mali, supported the development of an enhanced version of the technological application used by Pesinet for remote medical monitoring and processing the field data collected, including an impact monitoring system, activity management modules and the consolidation of statistical data at local, regional and national levels, to inform public policy in the country in question.
