BNP Paribas is partner of the North Sea Jazz Festival 2011, one of the largest and most famous jazz festival around the world, that has been created in 1976 and will take place this year on the 8th, 9th and 10th of July in Rotterdam. The main focus of the partnership will be on the support of jazz talent and bringing children into contact with jazz music. BNP Paribas will do this via its Foundation by supporting North Sea Jazz for Kids and the Paul Acket Award.

The Paul Acket Award “Artist Deserving Wider Recognition” is an annual award. This prize is meant for talented jazz musicians that stand at the beginning of their career. North Sea Jazz helps them in their further development. In addition, the festival presents the Paul Acket Award “Special Appreciation” to a person that has deserved well of jazz in the broadest sense of the word.

The North Sea Jazz Festival for Kids is a special North Sea Jazz Festival for children, with the purpose of increasing the knowledge of jazz music and increasing enthusiasm of children for this kind of music.

BNP Paribas has been partner of jazz for over 15 years. Through the BNP Paribas Foundation, BNP Paribas helps jazz musicians to develop their career by supporting their recordings and concerts. In addition, the BNP Paribas Foundation supports several festivals and awards. The North Sea Jazz Festival, which since its foundation in 1976 has grown into the largest indoor jazz festival in the world, is in many ways a perfect addition to this.
