What is this position about?
We are seeking a Senior Sales Trader to own the ASEAN equity franchise from our Singapore trading floor. You will sit at the intersection of the buy-side client and the market — executing across Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Vietnam, providing high-conviction market colour, and growing wallet share with institutional accounts. This is a client-facing, revenue-generating seat for someone who already has a client book, a reputation, and the judgment to trade size in markets where liquidity is not always given.
Primary Role Responsibilities
- Client execution: Manage order flow across ASEAN cash equities (and where relevant, block, program, and DMA/algo flow) for institutional clients — long-only funds, hedge funds, and regional asset managers. Own execution quality, minimise market impact, and take responsibility for fills.
- Market colour & idea generation: Deliver timely, actionable trading colour — flows, positioning, technicals, corporate access read-throughs, and event catalysts (results, MSCI/FTSE rebalances, index inclusions, block placements).
- Franchise development: Deepen existing relationships and originate new institutional accounts; grow commission share and cross-sell the wider platform (research, corporate access, capital markets).
- Risk & facilitation: Where mandated, commit and manage capital to facilitate client trades, managing risk within approved limits.
- Liquidity sourcing: Navigate ASEAN-specific liquidity constraints — thin names, foreign ownership limits, board lots, dual-listings, ADR/GDR arbitrage, and settlement nuances across each market.
- Corporate actions & events: Coordinate placements, secondary blocks, rights issues, and index events with syndicate, ECM, and the wider desk.
- Compliance & conduct: Operate to the highest standards under MAS regulation; maintain accurate records, adhere to best-execution obligations, and uphold information-barrier and conduct rules.
What is required for you to succeed?
- Description of experience required – i.e.; technical and behavioral competencies – keep to 5-6 points
- A portable client franchise — active institutional relationships that generate commission from day one.
- Deep ASEAN market mechanics — liquidity sourcing
