At Cardif Colombia, the
Reserving Actuary
plays a highly technical and strategic role, aimed at ensuring the sufficiency, stability, and robustness of technical reserves in a portfolio characterized by a high volume of policies, a significant frequency of claims, and mass distribution models.
Main objective: Prepare the actuarial closings. Carry out the technical activities that lead to the control of reserves for actuarial risks.
Main responsibilities:
- Prepare and analyze the actuarial closings of the Head Office and Branches, both estimated and actual, on a monthly basis.
- Consolidate the data from the technical closings and monthly data warehouse.
- Prepare calculations and analyses related to premium reserves, claims, or profit-sharing.
- Receive, consolidate, and validate the claims and production databases both accounting-wise and technically.
- Ensure the timely submission of regulatory reports and reports required by the Head Office and company management.
Professional Profile:
Professionals in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or Engineering. Need for specialized technical knowledge in:
(1) Deep actuarial expertise
- Solid knowledge in reserve theory for group life, debtor, payment protection, unemployment, disability, and insurance products related to the Cardif model.
- Practical experience in IBNR, mathematical reserves, and in-force risk reserves.
- Ability to assess reserve adequacy under various stress scenarios
(2) Strong data management skills
- High analytical capability with large databases
- Advanced use of Excel, SQL, R, and/or Python for modeling, automation, and quality control
(3) Accounting Regulatory Knowledge
- Knowledge of accounting regulations and local compliance.
- Strong understanding of IFRS 17, its impact on reserves, contractual service margin, and technical results.
