Main responsibilities:

  • Operational Risk AVP (RISK ORM) is a specialist for the Second Line of Defense (2LOD) within a Security Services (2S) organization. 
  • The role oversees the operational risk management and the permanent control framework with a steering role over this framework.
  • The ORM acts as the bridge between first‑line of defense and independent assurance (internal audit, external auditors), providing risk‑aware guidance, policy oversight, and control‑effectiveness testing. The position is instrumental in embedding a risk‑aware culture, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting strategic business decisions through robust risk insight. 
  • Define / coordinate the governance framework for operational risk (e.g., internal‑control committee, secretariat, outsourcing validation) 
  • Maintain the permanent‑control framework (policies, procedures, or operating instructions). 
  • Disseminate methodological standards and ensure alignment with group‑wide policies. 
  • Check & challenge 1LOD performed Risk & Control Self-assessments ("RCSA") and Historical Incidents as per BNP standards 
  • Conduct independent testing, risk‑based reviews of 1LOD control frameworks and issue permanent control actions when gaps are identified 
     

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in risk management, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Strong experience in operational risk, compliance, or internal audit within a security‑services environment or another high‑risk, regulated industry (custody, fund administration, securities‑lending, collateral‑management, related post‑trade solutions and Brokerage)
  • Proven track record of designing and operating a second‑line risk function, including policy creation, risk‑assessment execution, and independent control testing.
  • Advanced proficiency with Governance Risk & Compliance platforms (RCSA, incident management, control methodologies, or similar etc.) 
  • Regulatory Knowledge: In‑depth understanding of local security services licensing regimes / regulatory requirements, products and services and other relevant statutes. 
  • Language:  Portuguese – fluent, English - fluent (required for interaction with AMER/Group), Spanish - fluent (optional, but valuable for interaction with other Latin American countries).
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to translate complex risk concepts into clear, actionable guidance for field staff and senior executives.
  • Leadership & Influence: Experience leading cross‑functional projects without direct line authority; strong stakeholder‑management, negotiation, and facilitation skills.
  • Personal Attributes: High integrity, confidentiality, and ethical standards; and Proactive, detail‑oriented, and comfortable working in fast‑paced.
