RISK HUB
RISK is an integrated and independent control function of the BNP Paribas Group. It is the second line of defense on the risk management activities of the Group which are under its direct responsibilities, including credit and counterparty risk, market risk, funding and liquidity risk, interest rate and foreign exchange risks in the banking book, insurance risk, operational risk, and environmental and social risks.
RISK aims at being a partner of the businesses by contributing to their sustainable development, but also a gatekeeper to ensure risks taken remain compatible with the Group’s Risk Appetite and its strategy.
RISK Iberian Hub Madrid is a transversal platform servicing the RISK Function by covering added-value activities around credit risk, market risk, operational risk and data protection. Offering a wide range of services to RISK teams, from consulting to cyber security going through data analysis, modelling or artificial intelligence.
ABOUT THE JOB
MISSION
The portfolio of IRBA models (credit risk) is a precious and strategic asset for the Bank and its risk management process. In return, it attracts high scrutiny from the European Central Bank (ECB) and requires a continuous performance monitoring, maintenance effort and regulatory changes watch.
The IRBA models’ portfolio, composed of PD, LGD and exposure models, treating all segments of Business (retail, corporate, institutions and sovereign exposures) is managed by an ecosystem of more than 100 teammates. This community is very international and spreads over France, Belgium, Italy, Luxembourg, UK, Spain and Portugal.
As IRBA Models Portfolio Coordinator, you will join a dynamic team of 4 teammates in close relationship with this community as you will:
· Frame, coordinate and support multi-entities model development and remediation involving all concerned Business Lines Modelling Teams
· Leverage on Supervisors’ obligations analysis performed in your team to support remediation plan design.
· Foster transversality, facilitate exchanges of views and sharing of good practices within the Community
· Act as a watch tower ensuring modelling choices and submissions to ECB are harmonized across the Group and comply with Group Credit risk Modelling Standards.
· Contribute to the yearly ECB Stocktake exercise listing all material anticipated model changes / extensions and recommend a priority list to the Senior Management based on pros/cons analysis.
Your contribution is instrumental as it facilitates ECB’s approval of our models.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Your team belongs to RISK Models & Regulatory - Model Management (10+ senior experts) spread over France and Spain. Model Management Team has transversal mandates as the design of the multi-year modelling strategy, simulation of IRBA-model-related RWA impacts, ECB relationship and transversal project framing.
Within RISK, RISK Models & Regulatory designs “internal” models (used for both risk management and capital requirements measurements) and ensures their performance over time, while playing a watch tower role regarding regulatory changes.
BNP Paribas RISK Function (5 500+ employees in 50+ countries) is recognized for its excellence among its peers. RISK is an integrated and independent function, it covers all the risks of the Bank (credit, market, liquidity, operational, ESG risks). RISK is part of the control functions but is also a partner for Business Lines and helps them sustainably growing.
REQUIREMENTS
· Master’s Degree with a specialization in finance, risk, data science, statistics, or economics
· At least 7 years of experience in credit risk modelling on risk parameters and related concepts (PD, LGD, EAD/CCF, NDoD, CRM, RWA calculation, etc…)
· Fluent in English, both written and oral are mandatory. French is also appreciated as some calls/meetings are in French especially with our French Retail banking colleagues.
