The position at a glance
The RISK function supports BNP Paribas's mission by maintaining a robust risk management culture based on a long-term perspective and committed management. This role contributes to the bank's stability by acting as a second pair of eyes to ensure all risks remain aligned with established policies. The main objective is to advise management on risk policy definition and provide critical alerts regarding the bank's risk exposure.
In detail
- Measure market and liquidity risks inherent to trading desks through continuous monitoring to protect the direct scope of activities.
- Develop monitoring tools and reporting for Business and Senior Management to ensure visibility into risk metrics.
- Provide accurate risk information and opinions to senior management by escalating critical risk topics as needed.
- Perform in-depth ad hoc analyses on market risk topics to formulate reasoned opinions for the business line.
- Set and review market risk limits according to the Risk Appetite Framework to ensure timely compliance.
- Participate in the assessment of risk management frameworks for new products through committee attendance to support informed decision-making.
- Test the impact of model assumptions on book valuations through rigorous analysis to maintain valuation integrity.
- Compute stress-test scenarios and analyze results to contribute to the continuous improvement of stress testing within Global Markets.
- Opine on end-of-month valuation reviews by examining market parameters and reserves to ensure robust documentation.
- Leverage new technologies to automate risk production and analysis to increase operational efficiency.
The strengths and skills that will help you succeed
- Bachelor’s Degree in Math, Quantitative Finance, Engineering or Economics
- Minimum 5-7 years in risk management, quantitative financing, or trading fields.
- The knowledge of English is required.*
- In-depth understanding of market risk from capital market activities to support multi-asset derivative analysis.
- Quantitative application of math, probability, and statistics when performing complex risk modeling.
- Collaborative communication when summarizing and relaying risk information efficiently to stakeholders.
- Supportive team spirit when coordinating with cross-functional departments and large-scale projects.
- Knowledge of quantitative risk measures and modeling methodologies like VaR and stress testing to ensure accurate measurement.
