Derivatives Execution & Clearing (DEC) is an agency cross-asset integrated execution and clearing business giving access to 70+ world’s largest Exchanges to Corporate and Institutional clients.
DEC combines the strengths of Global Markets on ETD Execution, OTC Clearing and ETD Clearing for Corporates, and of Securities Services on ETD Clearing for Institutions:
- Listed Execution: Electronic and Voice brokerage services on listed Equity & Fixed Income futures and options for Asset Managers, Asset Owners, Hedge Funds
- OTC Clearing: Clearing of vanilla OTC derivatives (Rates, Credit), for large institutions (Asset Managers, Asset Owners, Banks, Hedge Funds)
- ETD Clearing for Corporates: Futures & Options on energy, metals and soft commodities, mainly for hedging purposes of large Producers and Utilities
- ETD Clearing for Financial Institutions: Clearing of Equity & Fixed Income
The role of the Clearing Product Management team for the DEC business is to drive the product strategy and sponsor the platform design, evolution and alignment with client needs.
Product management support the business in its go to market strategy though product training, contribution to rfp, branding of the business and bringing product expertise during client meeting and industry events. Product management perform Market & Regulatory watch to ensure the product offering stays in line with client, business & regulatory requirements. Product management owns the platform change process to adapt to client, business & regulatory changes.
Job Purpose:
The DEC Clearing Product Manager APAC role, leads the delivery of the products roadmap in APAC. The role holder will be responsible and accountable for defining the product & platform ambition in coordination with the central Product team, developing the product & platform strategy and ensuring its implementation: liaising with Business Sponsors, managing priorities, resources and the assignment of work in the team.
Core accountabilities of role
- An expert exercising considerable creativity, foresight, and judgment in conceiving, planning, and delivering business services to clients and key stakeholders.
- Manages the delivery of innovative and complex clearing products with a strong impact on Clients and GM Staff.
- Develops, co-ordinates and leads on tasks such as:
Manage and develop
- Develop depth and range of product knowledge to ensure personal credibility and ability to operate as an ‘expert’ within the business
- Supervise, mentor and coach Junior colleagues to support their ongoing development within the Bank as appropriate
- Manage time efficiently to accomplish key responsibilities
- Timely escalation to the head of the team of any complex client or product issues and queries that require more seniority
Drive the Product Strategy and sponsor the platform design, evolution and alignment with client needs
- Understand the Product and the impact on the product strategy
- Consolidate data required to propose book of work priority for the specific area in their remit
- Aggregate Stakeholders platform evolution request, evaluate business case and their contribution to the platform strategy,
- Interact with delivery team to assess cost and feasibility and stakeholders to confirm rational
- Maintain the book of work
- Oversee the delivery of the project within the product roadmap within their remit including;
- Drive the review of these projects with the IT & Change & Design
- Validate the status provided
- Define related business needs and level of services
- Take ownership of one or several steps of the Product Life cycle for new services
- Maintain existing services by identifying the required evolution
- Improve and Optimize cost efficiency of the new services they are working on
- Contribute and own to major projects without close supervision
- Ability to define accounting flows and entries for relevant products with close supervision
- Document processes as needed without close supervision
- Understand and ensure compliance to applicable regulatory obligations with close supervision
Ensure market watch and Product representation to internal & external governance committees and bodies
- Contribute to market, competition and regulatory watch
- Keep abreast of the evolving regulatory landscape and how this impacts both business and clients.
- Perform analysis of evolutions of specific regulatory oversight impacting local product strategy and product offering
- Support Sales & Client on these matters
- Join Internal working groups to bring SME views
- Contribute to regulator audits and queries
Support the business in its go to market strategy and keep Client Focus approach
- Deliver Product training and support on Product Offer for the Sales, Relationship Management and Client Solutions teams
- Develop Pitch Book and Product Offering marketing material in co-operation with Marketing and Client Development for the new services they sponsor
- Provide product specialist knowledge in client meetings across all Clearing product they are responsible for
- Promote product offering internally though training and tough leadership
- Provide legal with business advice Provide legal on legal negotiations with clients
- Support sales to answer RFP on the product area they are expert on
- Maintain knowledge of professional clients, main profiles, needs, and relevant products and services for professional clients
- Continuously identifies, proposes and implements innovative or alternative ideas ahead of others to improve topics or solve issues or problems that are multidisciplinary or cross-organisational, to improve the customer journey or the organisation, to develop new businesses or thought models.
- Actively promotes clearing products inside and outside of the Bank to clients and key stakeholders.
- Directs projects within their scope, responding to any issues or stakeholder requests with relevant aspects of work.
- Works predominately independently on assigned matters, exercising sound judgement on when to reach out to senior colleagues for guidance / input on more complex matters. At all times acts in line with the wider DEC strategies (and all BNPP policies).
Knowledge, Skill and Experience
- Professional qualification in relevant area and knowledge of the practices across Global Markets and the processes around DEC, typically gained through experience at BNPP and/or at a similar organisation.
- Experience with DEC and clearing business, with demonstrable understanding of the market, credit, operational, compliance, legal, regulatory and reputational risks of the platforms relevant to the role.
- Very strong knowledge of relevant company-wide policies, procedures, regulations and legislation and industry practices.
- Good working knowledge of professional standards and protocol and able to apply them to the Business to develop and improve BNPP processes and practices.
- Strong people management skills and an ability to work with individuals to set individual objectives and manage performance to ensure their delivery.
- Good communication and relationship management skills.
