Main Purpose Statement
We are looking for a data-driven specialist to manage the end-to-end execution of debt sales across active and charged off portfolios. This role supports the organization’s financial recovery strategy by preparing, valuing, and marketing credit portfolios for sale. This role combines deep analytical insight with stakeholder engagement to optimize recovery outcomes and ensure regulatory compliance. The role acts as the central point of coordination between internal teams (Risk, Finance, Legal, and Recoveries), external bidders, and central group stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Debt Sales Strategy & Execution
- Drive debt sale strategy in collaboration with the Head of Recoveries and central group stakeholders
- Conduct detailed portfolio analysis to determine suitability for sale, optimal segmentation, and pricing strategies
- Build and maintain financial models to forecast recovery rates, cash flows, and sale proceeds
- Manage the end-to-end sales process for active and charged off portfolios.
- Manage buyer engagement by responding to due diligence requests, facilitating engagements, and supporting negotiation discussions
- Ensure all activities adhere to the National Credit Act, POPIA, and internal governance frameworks
- Prepare and present regular reports on portfolio performance, sale results, and market trends
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and maximize recovery value
Internal reviews & Approvals
- Review and validate internal sale evaluations, ensuring completeness and accuracy of data
- Collaborate with legal, risk, finance, and recoveries teams to align on offers received, contract terms, transaction structure, and documentation
- Manage and respond to any follow-up questions or due diligence queries from central teams or bidders
Project & Operational Management
- Act as project lead for all sales, managing timelines, milestones, responsibilities, and governance documentation
- Coordinate operations task required for concluded sales, ensuring all compliance, audit, and system updates are completed within required timeframes
- Track and report on sales progress, pipeline, deal performance, and buyer feedback for continuous improvement
Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as the key liaison between bidders, internal teams, and group stakeholders throughout the deal cycle
- Maintain clear and regular communication with the Head of Recoveries on progress, risk, and decision points
- Prepare materials for executive reporting and decision-making, including updates to senior management and governance forums (EDC, Executive Committees)

Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mathematical, Statistical, Business, Economics or related qualification
- Min 3-5 years experience in debt sales, recoveries or credit risk within financial services
- Prior experience in modelling and evaluations
- SAS and SQL experience adventurous
- Prior experience managing or executing debt sales (strongly preferred)
- Knowledge of NCA, POPIA, and FICA Act
