The position at a glance
The Data Office Department drives and continuously improves the way data is handled throughout the organization. It looks to satisfy the requirements related to principles for effective enterprise data aggregation and reporting and is intended to support evolving regulatory requirements.
The Data Office Department is made up of the following 5 pillars:
- Data Privacy and protection: protect personal information of clients, employees, and other individuals from third parties.
- Data Governance: set the framework for developing and formalizing the “know your data” culture including formal governance forums,
- Data Management: determine the data strategy for the platform with the objective of identifying and adopting golden sources, capturing, and maintaining data glossaries and dictionaries, business, and functional lineage from source to output as well as managing referential data
- Data Quality: Set up a framework to assess and report on the data used for reporting purposes and an effective remediation team and data certification and attestation processes.
- Data Solutions: develops various type of value-added solutions using data
In detail
The role will report to the Canada Chief Data Officer. The role will be supporting data protection, data management and/or data quality activities. This will involve reporting functionally for some period to a lead of one of the Data Office pillars depending on the priorities.
The analyst will drive and contribute to the team implementation of the data office framework ensuring its execution and maintenance, as well as working in close collaboration with business partners, technology, and other stakeholders.
The analyst will be utilized across the data office, depending on where there is a need and will start with Data Privacy. The activities and responsibilities of the analyst may be performed in a project or BAU mode:
Data Privacy
- Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of data privacy procedures and guidelines in line with regulatory requirements.
- Work with legal, IT, compliance, and security teams to ensure data privacy measures are integrated across all functions and that there is proper governance of personal data.
- Contribute to the maintenance of the inventory of data processing activities, ensuring proper documentation and categorization of personal data being collected, stored, or shared.
- Evaluate potential risks related to data processing activities and third-party vendor data handling and recommend mitigations to reduce exposure.
- Manage and respond to data subject access requests (DSARs) and ensure proper processes are in place to allow individuals to exercise their rights under privacy laws.
- Facilitate Privacy Impact Assessments to ensure the organization’s data processing activities meet privacy standards.
- Training and Awareness: Conduct regular privacy awareness training for employees to educate them about best practices and regulatory obligations related to data privacy.
- Prepare various reports including KPI, KRI for management and key stakeholders
Data Management & Quality
- Implement and maintain data management and data quality processes, ensuring data standards and procedures are adhered to across the organization.
- Oversee monitoring, assessment, and reporting on data quality issues. This includes identifying data inconsistencies, inaccuracies, and anomalies.
- ollaborate with business and IT teams to ensure data validation rules are enforced, and that data is accurate and complete before it is used for reporting or decision-making.
- Develop and maintain data quality dashboards and reports to track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to data accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.
- Work with various teams such as IT, Business Analysts, and Data Owners to address data quality issues and improve data management practices.
- Ensure metadata and data lineage to understand the flow of data through the organization, including its origin, transformations, and usage is periodically reviewed and updated
- Support data integration initiatives by ensuring that incoming data from different systems adheres to quality standards and is properly aligned with existing data.
- Contribute to identify data-related risks and provide training to domains in the organization.
- Participate in ongoing improvements of data management practices, suggesting and implementing process optimizations and automation when possible.
The strengths and skills that will help you succeed
TRAINING AND OCCUPATIONAL EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree from accredited university
- 5 plus years of professional experience ideally in data governance or data privacy
- Preferred experience in data management, governance, privacy, controls or process improvement.
- Experience preparing senior management presentations and large data sets
- Elevated level of ability in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI a plus

- Given the vast majority of our clients, both internal and external, are based outside of Quebec and Canada, specific language requirements may apply. Knowledge of French and English is required.
