The Senior Treasury Dealer & Bond Portfolio Manager operates within the banking book of Hong Kong Branch. It’s role is to:
Support ALMT in its Bond Portfolio Management mandate by contributing to the strategy, execution, P&L performance and risk management of the HQLA liquidity buffer ( “ investment portfolio” ), including the planning and implementation of liquefaction strategy of the Investment Portfolio in BAU as well as stressful conditions.
As part of the Treasury team, prudentially manage the liquidity position in the Branch, along with its associated liquidity, interest rate and foreign exchange risks inherent in the Balance Sheet, while staying within the delegated limits and in compliance with regulatory ratios.
The role also contributes to the achievement of the assigned P&L targets, while upholding the prudential mandate.
Primary Role Responsibilities
Allocated currencies: All currencies in the banking book
Bond Portfolio Management ( BPM )
Oversight and optimization of the HQLA position of the Hong Kong Branch by proposing and refining portfolio investment strategies, contributing to the development and management of the portfolio structure/mix, and addressing market and liquidity risks.
Maintaining at all times a forward-looking and dynamic (i.e. evolving) view of macro market and product development, within the BPM investment scope.
Initiating discussions about opportunities and risks, and monitoring activities and exposures with the objective of maximizing profitability within the portfolio’s objectives and the constraints of BNP Paribas risk tolerance.
Ensuring proper trade documentation is complete (Hedge accounting, PNL, banking law justification…), demonstrating conformity with the investment strategy, performance expectations, and evaluation of inherent market, credit, and interest rate risks.
Market analysis & value creation
Generation of market optimization strategies across liquidity, interest rates, FX, relevant to the HK Branch’s activities, balance sheet & currencies
Maintaining constant interaction with market participants (internally and externally)
Operational Management
Manage liquidity in the funding book and liquidity gaps of the bank's balance sheet, as per Group guidelines
Monitor and manage the interest rate and FX risks in the banking book, within defined limits and banking law framework
Contribute to the planning and implementation of liquefaction strategy of the Investment Portfolio in BAU as well as stressful conditions.
Perform and follow up with daily operations such as deal booking, price contribution, credit/market risk limits checking, pricing/funding support to other business lines.
Contribute to collection of wholesale funding (relationship with key depositor clients) in line with Wholesale Deposit Line global strategy
Back-up submitter/reviewer for HKD HIBOR rate's submission in compliance with code of conduct set by HKMA's Supervisor Manual (SPM) on CG-7, as well as BNP Paribas' internal IAC procedure
Liquidity Prudential Management
Support the analysis of the liquidity of BNPP Hong Kong balance-sheet and prepare funding planning for allocated currencies
Ensure liquidity position is in compliance with local regulatory ratios (LMR, CFR) and global regulations (where relevant), and within the Bank's established procedures & policies
Other responsibilities
Contribute to the achievement of desk's P&L targets, while upholding prudential mandate
Monitor P&L (including Liquidity P&L) daily and escalate issues. Participate in the budget process (explain, forecast…), closely following up and explaining its achievement through the year
Provide back-up when team members are on leave or as per overall business requirements
Contribute to the BNPP operational permanent control framework, to manage and mitigate operational risk
Participate in ad-hoc projects as required
Ensure good communication with various BNPP branches and network, business lines & support functions (middle/back office, Finance…)
Acting as a reliable business partner to support business development & growth of the Branch
Group Reputation
Promote BNPP Hong Kong as a centre of expertise in HKD and CNH, and as a funding hub for the Group in the north Asia region
Contribute to enhancing ALMT’s image & reputation within the HK markets, Branch & wider Group
What is required for you to succeed?
Extensive Front office experience and knowledge of financial markets and instruments, and their related macro-economic drivers
Strong experience or track record of managing bond portfolio or rate-based products
Ability to create, maintain, and refine forward-looking optimisation strategies for risks facing the Branch (liquidity, rates, FX, credit)
Strong analytical skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts and provide specialist guidance and advice to others. Capacity to treat large amount of data as part of daily activities
Solid knowledge of local and global liquidity regulations
Highly motivated, keen attention to details and able to work independently and under stress
Team player who actively contributes towards meeting the team's objectives
Good understanding of business risk and displays great diligence to their activities within the business
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to report and escalate
