The Intern for Banking Operations will have the opportunity to work within a Client Delivery team to support the banking operations of BNP Paribas New Zealand. This is an opportunity to gain exposure to a variety of banking operations functions that support New Zealand Kiwi Saver Custody and Fund Services.
Primary Role Responsibilities
The role sits within one of New Zealand’s Banking Operations teams to learn and support day to day business and project activities. The purpose is to increase capacity for the team during a period of high activity and cease the opportunity to gain industry experience.
Coordinate with internal teams involving effective communication
Assure that the team addresses all relevant issues within the specifications and various standards
Escalate issues which cannot be resolved by themselves
Provide support to the team based on management direction
Client reporting and reconciliations
Resolution of client issues and ad hoc queries
Assist with related systems, process or internal change initiatives and process improvements
Other contributions
May perform other duties and responsibilities that management may deem necessary from time to time.

Key System Experience
Advanced XLS spreadsheet skills including macros, BC, links t SQL DB, pivot tables) required
Basic SQL coding - desired
Basic XML coding; - desired

Experience and Qualifications required
Tertiary Qualification in Business or Finance preferable.
Other Post Graduate or Industry qualifications welcome but not essential.
Good knowledge of the Funds Industry and Operations, Fund Accounting, Reporting and Custody.
Good product knowledge in domestic and international securities and funds management.
Good theoretical and practical knowledge of investment products including Unit Trusts, Gross Income Funds and Superannuation Schemes.
Knowledge of general ledger and investment management systems.
Knowledge of compliance and operational risk requirements in the industry.
Demonstrated history of being results focused and excellent attention to detail.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Desired knowledge, skill, experience
Tertiary Qualification complete or in progress in Business or Finance preferable.
Other Post Graduate or Industry qualifications welcome but not essential.
