BNP Paribas continues to lead the charge toward a tobacco-free future
29.05.2020 | CSR
In celebration of World No Tobacco Day on the 31st of May, a campaign sponsored by the WHO, BNP Paribas is reaffirming its commitment to a tobacco-free future through the Tobacco Free Portfolio’s Stamp of Approval program.
In 2018, BNP Paribas was a founding signatory of the Tobacco-Free Finance Pledge led by Tobacco Free Portfolios, a not-for-profit movement working toward tobacco-free finance.
With the new Stamp of Approval from Tobacco-Free Portfolio, BNP Paribas is once again a leader in this issue, critical to both world health and the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.
“We’re committed to financing economic development that has a positive impact on society. This includes action to ensure healthy lives for present and future generations. In this respect, we consider that the Tobacco-Free Finance Pledge is a milestone initiative. BNP Paribas is proud to be one of the first to adopt the new Pledge Stamp, so we can demonstrate our commitment and help advance tobacco-free finance further across the world.”
Jean-Laurent Bonnafé, CEO of BNP Paribas

Every year, on 31 May, the World Health Organization (WHO) and global partners celebrate World No Tobacco Day (WNTD). The annual campaign is an opportunity to raise awareness on the harmful and deadly effects of tobacco use and second-hand smoke exposure, and to discourage the use of tobacco in any form.
