The opportunity is for a Project
Manager to work within the London Project Management team, located in the head
office near to St Pauls in the City of London. The Project Management team forms part of the wider
Building Consultancy department which provides a range of professional and
project services to Occupier and Investor clients, as well as internal teams.
The candidate will take the lead in the delivery of
commercial Cat A refurbishment projects for our Institutional Investor and
Occupier clients in and around London, with the opportunity to become involved
in projects over a wider geographical area. This Senior Associate Director/Director level role will suit
a project manager who is currently working in the commercial Cat A refurbishment
market who has a strong understanding of construction and a demonstrable track
record of project delivery, and wishes to develop the Cat A PM proposition of
BNPPRE to enhance their career.
The successful candidate can expect to be involved
with projects from concept through to completion; they will need a strong eye
for detail and a technical background. They will possess a good appreciation of
commercial construction and see this role as an opportunity to progress their
career to the next level.
Reporting to the lead Project Management director,
from day one the candidate will work with the other project managers and
building surveyors within the team. There will be a high level of client
contact and the opportunity to build strong networks both within BNPPRE and the
London construction market. The role requires the candidate to be self-motivated,
identify and secure new business opportunities and be responsible for managing
their own workload, and the workload of others. They will be able to
demonstrate that they can work within multi-disciplinary teams delivering
integrated services to clients.
Roles and responsibilities
Currently, the Project Management team primarily undertake commercial Cat B fit-out projects, and have a long-established and enviable track record in this area. Following the wider business’s refocus on investor and landlord clients they are now looking to expand their Cat A / refurbishment project offering and therefore this offers a significant opportunity to develop and grow this part of the business. This role will ideally suit someone who is looking to develop their career through expanding their professional network, applying strong project management processes whilst retaining a hands-on involvement in project delivery.
Key responsibilities will include:
Taking responsibility for overseeing the Cat A project management services of the London project management team;
Developing a best-in-class delivery model in line with the established processes in place;
Taking responsibility for focused business development, client targeting and marketing activities to internal and external clients;
Taking and being responsible for instructions, from inception through to completion, reporting to the lead PM director;
Overseeing similar work undertaken by other project managers and building surveyors within the department to agreed standards and processes;
Delivering projects following the RIBA plan of work, managing the end of stage reporting and sign-off;
Providing technical and professional advice to our clients at all stages of a project;
Critiquing designs produced by third party consultants;
Managing and coordinating the activities of third party specialists;
Leading the preparation of feasibility studies and option appraisals
Preparing and managing programmes of work;
Leading client, design team and contractor meetings, managing actions which arise;
Leading and reporting on project risk;
Undertaking regular site inspections and issuing regular progress reports to advise on site activities, progress against programme and identify any areas of concern;
Manage the delivery of variations from instruction through to completion and sign off;
Preparing client reports, reflecting different stages of the project;
Project management and contract administration duties including managing project change, valuation and practical completion.
As well as the technical requirements, the candidate
will become involved with business development activities from day-one. The candidate
will be used to managing client relationships, often at a senior level, and to
work within the department and the broader BNPPRE business to identify, build
and maintain new opportunities.
