The position at a glance

The BNP Paribas USD Clearing & Payments Oversight (“CPO”) team is critical to ensure the sustainability of the control framework around Financial Security at Group level (i.e., BNPP Affiliates).  The following work streams will be in scope for this role 

  • Monitoring the control framework regarding USD SWIFT traffic monitoring using the SWIFT Observer Tool (SWOBS),
  • Maintaining inventory and reconciliation of affiliate’s USD accounts. 
  • Producing a twice-yearly Affiliate Dashboard comprised of 1LoD control results and other indicators.  
  • Liaising with the relevant points of contact at division or metier level to ensure proper coordination between USD Clearing and the affiliates
  • Maintain strong governance at USD Clearing & Payments level by supporting in the preparation and minutes of the Affiliates Account Certification Committee. 

In detail

This position is a 12-month contract.

For each of the work streams, the team member will be responsible for the following: 

  • SWOBS and USD Account Management:
  • Extracting SWIFT data from SWIFT Compliance analytics and loading into SWOBS
  • Contacting BNPP Affiliates to gather information on the selected transactions and MT950 accounts to be investigated
  • Investigate and analyze internally through BNPP tools each selected transaction and MT950 account to be reviewed. 
  • Affiliate Dashboard: 
  • Collecting and analyzing Financial Security control results from the USD Clearing network affiliates and other indicators from Compliance and IG.
  • Working with Power BI team to create visuals for the dashboard
  • Affiliate Account Certification Committee:
  • Preparing the CPO contribution for affiliates being recertified, 
  • Presenting the CPO contribution at the committee

The strengths and skills that will help you succeed

Education: 

  • Undergraduate degree with a preferred emphasis in finance or business-related majors.  

Years of experience: 

  • 5+ years’ experience in an Audit, Compliance or Control role

Languages: 

  • Professional working proficiency in English*


Technical skills: 

  • Good knowledge of the financial / banking industry and of the bank’s operations, in general
  • Experience in understanding and reviewing SWIFT payment messages; Deep knowledge of AML monitoring systems is a plus
  • Understanding of data quality, matching logic, and false positive reduction
  • Strong skills in Excel and Power Point
  • Experience with Power Query tools (Power BI – including data extraction, transformation and loading) a plus

Soft skills: 

  • Analytical and investigative skills
  • Ability to present findings clearly to management
  • Ability to question inconsistencies and escalate appropriately
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with various teams in a deadline focused environment. 
  • Ability to understand and apply risk-based approaches
  • Accuracy in reviewing large volumes of transactions and documents
  • Strong investigative mindset for case reviews at transaction level
