Oracle Database Administrator (Germany team)

The Oracle Database Administrator will have the following responsibilities:

  • Maintenance and support of day-to-day business in the database team
  • Implementation of database services after commissioning
  • Create new databases and environments in an extended RAC environment
  • Set up services for applications considering specifics such as not RAC capable 
  • Guarantee reliability or proactive participation in measures to avoid production downtime
  • Solving production downtimes competently and promptly
  • Conversion of Oracle CDB/ PDB databases
  • Analyzing and defining cardinalities for old applications on RAC
  • Participation in release assignments
  • Provision of participation services from the database team in projects, e.g. Move2Cloud and in regulatory requirements as well as POCs
  • Systematically analyze security gaps and develop solutions
  • Analyze and fix performance issues
  • Optimize database monitoring
  • Set up backup and ensure fast recovery times through regular testing during environment setup
  • Onboarding new DB users to CyberArk 
  • Support of the Oracle Apex application as well as participation in the patching of these
  • Participation and further development of the Database Information System (DBI)
  • Adapting existing scripts for Cloud Move
  • Further automation for environment setups
  • Support in the automation of pseudonymization of data after a database rebuild by means of ETL development
  • Systematically evaluate the DB parameters across all databases and script necessary changes to further automate
  • Further develop Ansible scripts for inline patching and extend them for PDB
  • Participation in patching Oracle databases and, if necessary, other DB technologies
  • Ensure Git versioning.

What qualities do we look for?

  • Sound and long-standing knowledge of database technologies and their operating processes (Oracle, PostgreSQL, ideally also MSSQL, MongoDB and Elasticsearch)
  • Good experience with Oracle Exadata Cloud Customer
  • Very good knowledge of shell and ansible scripting
  • Good knowledge of Git
  • High technical understanding in IT infrastructure services
  • Ideally, in-depth expertise in the development, operation and sourcing of data center services in the banking environment
  • Several years of experience in IT migration and/or development projects, ideally cloud-based and/or experience in migrating databases in a data center move desirable
  • Good knowledge of common project management methods (classic, agile)
  • Experience in working with common collaboration tools, such as Confluence, Jira
  • High integration capability   
  • Structured, goal-oriented and solution-oriented way of working
  • Strong communication and organizational, persistent, sustainable
  • Good level of English, German is a plus.
