Overview

The Legal Recovery Officer plays a key role in safeguarding the company’s legal and financial interests by managing debt and asset recovery matters, including enforcement, insolvency, and court proceedings. The role also coordinates external legal partners, supports compliance with applicable legislation and internal requirements, and contributes to the efficient recovery of receivables and assets while minimizing legal and operational risks.

Key Atributions:

  • Provide legal advice and support on debt and asset recovery matters;
  • Handle and resolve legal matters and requests within the Collection and Recovery Department;
  • Draft applications to initiate enforcement proceedings and prepare related documents for the recovery of outstanding amounts and assets leased or financed through credit facilities;
  • Draft applications to open insolvency proceedings and prepare related documents, including legal opinions, objections, and challenges;
  • Draft settlement agreements with clients managed by the Collection and Recovery Department, based on the company’s prior internal approvals, to support the recovery of outstanding amounts or financed assets;
  • Monitor legal proceedings, including enforcement, insolvency, and court proceedings in which the company is a party;
  • Manage relationships with external partners, including enforcement officers, insolvency practitioners, external legal counsel, and debt recovery agencies;
  • Participate, where required, in the repossession of assets owned by the company;
  • Keep legal case files up to date by periodically requesting information and supporting documents from external partners.

Skills and Competencies

  • Education: Law degree;
  • Experience: Minimum three years’ experience in a similar role within a financial institution, leasing company, law firm, or debt recovery environment;
  • Languages: Advanced proficiency in English;
  • Digital skills: Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office;
