The IT Digital Officer reports directly to the APAC CIB Head of IT Architecture and functionally to Global ITO Industrial Transformation. S/he will be responsible for guarding the digital estate and ensuring digital / AI deployment meets security, regulatory and control* standards, in compliance with company’s internal policies as well as regulatory requirements. In addition, he/she will directly manage the team of APAC ITO Context Engineers (Data Scientists) who bring use cases to life from design, development and integration to production while ensuring digital governance compliance.
* The model for IT controls related to the framework is to be reviewed and finalized.
Key Responsibilities
Use case integration
Direct management of the team of 5 APAC ITO Context Engineers (Data Scientists) with a mandate to convert banking data into actionable digital / AI insights
Work closely with IT teams (e.g. Architecture, Developers), responsible for bringing use cases from concept to production (specification, development and integration) for ITO and selected Metiers and Functions, building pipelines and reusable scripts for data analysis, creating KPI / KRI visualizations; and ensuring digital governance compliance
Control Tower
Ensure digital and AI strategies / deployments comply with regulations and IT standards
Execute the IT control plan and report results to management
Define and regularly update the control plan according to the outcome of the risk assessment
Ensure IT control results are reviewed and analysed by Entity Management and when relevant, operational teams / relevant stakeholders define necessary remediation action plans
Work in conjunction with Global CIB Control Tower teams / ITO CCCO to produce dashboards presenting key metrics on digital / AI risk management framework and to implement new controls to mitigate new risks emerging from technologies
Propose and prepare proactively staff communication to reinforce awareness on the digital and AI control framework when necessary
Compliance & Governance
Act as a bridge, when required, between regional teams and Central governance regarding regional risk, compliance and regulatory topics related to digital matters (e.g. contribution to risk assessment, regulatory compliance)
Coordinate with IT Risk and prepare response to auditors / regulators when contribution is required
Articulation and coordination with LOD2 and any relevant teams (in particular with APAC RISK and Compliance teams) to ensure that regulatory changes related to digital / AI are properly captured and oversee the progress of remedial actions with different owners
Advise on IT governance best practices and policy enhancements
Other contributions
Advise on any collaboration or engagement with Fintechs following internal Innovation governance
Lead / contribute to ad-hoc projects requiring digital expertise
Ensure consistency in communication / digital tools (e.g. community with digital and AI teams)
Competencies (Technical / Behavioral)
Technical attributes
At least 10 years of experience in digital transformation, data, architecture and IT risk and control within the banking / financial services industry
Expertise in digital banking, agile methodologies, cloud platforms, and Fintech partnerships
Strong knowledge of APAC regulatory requirements pertaining to AI and digital
Ability to interpret regulatory notices, guidelines or policies and map them with BNP Paribas framework is desirable
Strong project management skills and the ability to coordinate, prioritize and execute initiatives
Strong technology background with hands-on development experience working in product and projects development
Strong team management and development skills, with the ability to coach and mentor team members at varying levels of experience
