Governance and Risk Management Officer

Position Purpose

The APAC Infrastructure Office team assists APAC regional infrastructure teams with their production activities, to reduce risk by ensuring compliance with security policies and resilience requirements, monitor the operational stability of the production, and work closely with team leads to drive improvements and efficiency.

The role involves performing analysis of processes by infrastructure teams during their daily operations, post incident action plans, change management, fulfillment of audit requirements, team governance and IT controls, and championing new ideas and innovation with teams to focus on improving their services.

A full understanding of risk, incident, change and problem management is required, coupled with a risk mindset is a must. During audits, the team member must possess the confidence to be the single point of contact whilst facing a team of auditors. 

Each team member is responsible to understand and work closely with production teams, learn their BAU tasks and how they relate to common best practices and industry standards. This will allow them to help teams make data driven decisions and coordinate the execution of their improvement plans.

The successful candidate must be inquisitive and willing to challenge old habits, be bold with new ideas and demand high standards at all times, at all levels (from graduates to senior managers).

They will work with other IT teams, business units, senior managers in Asia and Europe, so they must possess strong verbal and written communication skills, great organisation skills, practice effective time management, be well organized and very methodical in their work. 

Key Responsibilities

Work with APAC Infrastructure teams to :

  • Identify risks in daily operations and procedures, take appropriate steps to mitigate those risks and ensure controls are put in place.
  • Ensure that open risks are recorded in the Risk system and tracked, assessed and closed.
  • Ensure team documentation is reviewed and maintained any gaps in operating procedures is addresses asap
  • During incidents, provide assistance for reporting and contribute to the post incident reviews
  • Create and share operational data and reports that can be used by others to improve service quality
  • Liaise with global teams to implement their initiatives appropriate for APAC, and share our achievements with them where appropriate.
  • Assist teams on IT Security requirements to ensure compliance thresholds are met on a monthly basis
  • Utilize available information, metrics and evaluations to develop recommendations for change. Provide input on internal processes to assist with service improvement initiatives and necessary Compliance and Audit requirements.
  • Work with Auditor to ensure a timely collection of information and remediation of reported issues.
  • Promote automation opportunities and track the progress on a monthly basis
  • Track and report on system vulnerability remediation and closure status

Technical & Behavioral Competencies

Required Knowledge/Experience/Skills:

  • At least 5+ years’ experience with competences from a technical background.
  • Practical experience supporting IT applications or infrastructure 
  • Must be familiar with Service Delivery processes, Change management, Incident Management, Capacity Management and other ITSM related topics.
  • Have come from a service oriented, customer focused background having supported multiple business lines or customers to deliver services against Service Level Agreements.
  • Experience working in a large or complex IT environment is essential.
  • Experience working with internal and external auditors is beneficial.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. 
  • Able to work autonomously and as part of a team using strong analytical and data driven skills
  • Demonstrate a systematic and logical approach to problems, issues and incidents.
  • Have good presentation and documentation skills
  • Ability to explain complex technical problems with your target audience – e.g. able to adapt and describe an incident to a senior system administrator and then to non-technical managers.
  • Must have an enthusiastic “can do” attitude.
  • Possess good time keeping skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • Relishes taking ownership, being totally hands-on and comfortable directly interfacing with people at all levels of the organisation.
  • Able to follow the policies, standards, processes and procedures.
  • Familiarity on various ITIL concepts and can apply them effectively.

Other Value-Added Competencies:

  • Knowledge and experience using Microsoft Sharepoint, Microsoft PowerBI, Microsoft Office 365.
