Job Description Summary

Bank of the West is seeking a talented forward thinking DevOps Engineer with experience leading teams on a new DevOps journey.  The primary responsibility is design and participate in development of cross-functional, multi-platform application systems that utilize CI/CD automated pipeline methodology.  In this role you will be responsible for conducting POCs, installing, configuring, and maintaining the shared tools in the CI/CD pipeline and you will help shape the future of DevOps within Bank of the West.  The successful candidate will have experience as a senior software engineer with a proven track record of innovation using automation methodologies with Agile delivery.

  • Own the strategy, technical design and development of CI/CD pipeline tools that are shared within the enterprise delivery teams.  Accountable for overall solution design quality.
  • Responsible for key system design and integration decisions; and for communicating decisions to individuals implementing the system.
  • Manage the grooming/backlog/planning with business systems analysts, project owners, and customers to understand the scope of work, priorities, and requirements for development.
  • Must understand full-stack methodologies and ability to code, test, and debug.
  • Drive tactical delivery in an Agile format with multiple teams.
  • Work with our delivery leads, architects, and other groups to identify technical and functional needs of system and determine priority of needs.
  • Manage standard system design and ensure we implement and support good software design practices.
  • Ability to influence others
  • Analyze, define and document requirements for end-to-end workflows utilizing multiple interfaces, both internal and external, which produce automated pipeline delivery for both new and existing legacy vendor products.
  • Analyze and estimate feasibility, cost, time, and compatibility with hardware and other programs.
  • Follow and enforce company standard policies.



Required Experience
  •  5 years of experience in software development
  •  4 years of experience working in a Linux/Unix/Windows environment
  •  3 year of experience implementing DevOps concepts and practices
  •  3 years of experience implementing CI/CD tool solutions
  •  3 years of experience as lead on an engineering team.
  •  3 years of experience writing shell scripts
  •  3 years’ experience with Python or Ruby
  •  3 years  of experience with Jenkins and Git
  •  3 years of experience with Automation or Orchestration
  • Expert knowledge of Gradle or Maven
  • Intermediate to expert knowledge with Docker and Kubernetes (Containers and Clusters)

  • Bachelor's Degree
