Job Title: Data & IT Cost Analyst

Department: IT CARATS

About Business line/Function: BNP Paribas Cardif is the insurance subsidiary of BNP Paribas. We are a worldwide leader of the Credit Protection Insurance market with strong positions in savings and protection insurance in more than 30 countries in Europe, Asia and Latin America.

The IT Asset Management and Optimization (ITAMO) service within the IT Department is responsible for managing IT assets to improve control over operational risks and costs. This service globally oversees Cardif’s asset registers and IT management tools to support compliance and risk‑management requirements for our IT activities and to control spending and investments related to our IT footprint. In this regard, the service monitors the health of IT assets by identifying critical components (under‑utilization, toxicity, etc.), helps reduce software spending through the rationalization of publisher contracts and usage, and finally facilitates the identification of optimizations for infrastructure‑service expenditures delivered by the Group’s IT providers.

Position Purpose:

Data & IT Cost Analyst – GIE BNPP Cardif (Confirmed)

We are looking for an experienced cost control-oriented Data Analyst to join our IT team.

In this role, you sit at the intersection of data analytics and financial operations, with a clear mandate: bring visibility, rigor, and actionable intelligence to IT infrastructure costs across our application and server assets (PROD and non-PROD environments).

You will own the full cost analytics cycle — from data collection and modelling, through trend analysis and anomaly detection, to executive-level reporting and recommendation delivery.

Your work will directly influence infrastructure spending decisions and resource optimization strategies across the organization.

Responsibilities

Direct Responsibilities

Cost & Resource Analytics:

• Analyse and interpret data related to applications, servers, and PROD / non-PROD environments, covering:

• Technical unit consumption volumes — CPU, memory, storage, bandwidth, etc.

• Cost attribution — server costs, storage costs, network costs, and associated resource expenditure.

• Application and server performance — response times, availability rates, SLA compliance.

• Identify cost trends, consumption anomalies, and financial risk signals across the IT estate, and translate them into concrete optimisation recommendations.

• Build cost allocation models and showback/chargeback frameworks to provide accurate visibility of IT spending by team, application, or service.

• Monitor budget vs. actual consumption and flag deviations proactively to relevant stakeholders.

Dashboard Development & Reporting

• Design, develop, and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports that present cost and performance data to both operational teams and senior leadership.

• Ensure dashboards provide real-time or near-real-time visibility into spending patterns, capacity usage, and efficiency KPIs.

• Manage dashboard access rights and audience segmentation across stakeholder groups.

Insight Generation & Decision Support

• Conduct focused case studies and ad-hoc financial analyses to address specific business questions — e.g. cost of a migration, impact of a decommission, ROI of a right-sizing initiative.

• Develop and implement analytical models and decision-support tools that improve data-driven financial management.

• Participate in the continuous improvement of data analysis processes, reporting standards, and cost governance practices.

Stakeholder Engagement & Communication

• Partner with operational and finance teams to understand cost drivers, validate findings, and align on recommendations.

• Deliver clear, impactful presentations of analytical results and financial recommendations to both operational teams and senior leadership (CODIR level).

• Act as a trusted advisor on IT cost matters, bridging the gap between technical infrastructure data and financial decision making.

Technical & Behavioral Competencies

• Advanced proficiency in Power BI — dashboard design, DAX, data modelling, cost reporting.

• Strong SQL skills for querying and aggregating financial and operational datasets.

• Proven ability to identify cost trends, anomalies, and savings opportunities from complex datasets.

• Experience with tools such as Excel (advanced), SQL, Power BI, Python, or R.

• Familiarity with project management and collaboration tools (Jira, Confluence, ServiceNow, etc.).

• Strong understanding of IT infrastructure cost management — servers, storage, network, applications, PROD vs. non-PROD environments.

Technical Skills:

• PowerBI (advanced)

• MS Excel (advanced)

• Python

Behavioral Skills:

• Excellent communication skills — ability to present financial insights clearly and with impact to non-technical and executive audiences

• Ability to work autonomously

• Ability to manage multiple analytical workstreams simultaneously

• Ability to manage priorities

Education Level: Master Degree or equivalent

Professional Experience level: At least 5 years

Location: Chennai
