Position Purpose
The role of the Data Analyst sits within the AI & Data pillar of the over arching Industrial Transformation team. The Data Analyst's primary objective is providing the business with data analytics and solutions in a cost-effective way by determining the requirements of a project or program and communicating them clearly to stakeholders, facilitators and partners.
The Data Analyst will report directly to the Head of AI & Data and work within a matrix structure, delivering into projects that are managed across all platforms. They communicate with internal and external stakeholders including business stakeholders in operations, product and coverage, standards, vendors and consultants.
Key Responsibilities
Business & Data Requirements
- Engage stakeholders to establish a common understanding of the business and data needs
- Identify and correctly translate business needs into business and data solution requirements
- Clarify and elicit business requirements, proactively identifying additional requirements not explicitly provided, obtaining missing information and resolving conflicting information
- Ensure data requirements are consistent with the business requirements. Where possible relate deliverables and their acceptance criteria to the requirements
- Validate data requirements with stakeholders to ensure they are based on an understanding of the stakeholder needs, expectations, constraints, and interfaces
Data Solution Design
- Gain a firm understanding of the impacts of the solution on People, Process and Technology.
- Engage stakeholders to ensure a common understanding of (and commitment to) all aspects of the project including objectives, scope, risks, benefits and any element they may be providing.
- Gather all the necessary inputs and review to fully understand the requirements, specifications, applicable standards etc.
- Document the current (as-is) business process design if this does not already exist
- Document the to-be business process design and identify how the implementation of the data solution will benefit the business
Data Quality and Integrity
- Liaise with the business to identify data inconsistencies and provide the capability to identify these items in advance
- Lead and/or undertake data quality activities and initiatives where required. Ensure appropriate tools and techniques are used for data analysis tasks and deliverables.
- Encourage peer reviews and feedback sessions within the community as well undertaking review personally.
Alteryx Designer/Gallery/Power BI Implementation:
- Using the analysis, requirements gathering and stakeholder workshops mentioned above, create Alteryx workflows or Power BI Dashboards that align with the correct business outcomes and optimise business process and introduce operational efficiencies
- Ensure that developed workflows meet the standards of Data Governance and Analytics teams and can be scaled to run on the Alteryx Gallery
- Create consistency amongst existing workflows and ensure that the user experience is maintained across the data governance and analytics gallery and standards are set for future developments
Competencies (Technical / Behavioural)
Technical
- 3+ years analysis experience along with Alteryx, Power and/or similar ETL tools.
- Experience in a Technology & Change capacity in the Financial Services Industry
- Familiarity with analytical capabilities such as Power BI, Tableau, Alteryx
- Excellent working knowledge of relational databases, be able to confidently write SQL
- Experience in custody or back-office administration for the funds management industry
- Strong analytical ability to analyse, summarise and explain large data sets through verbal, written and visual forms.
- Excellent analytical skills, able to manage multiple projects under strict timelines, work well in a demanding and dynamic environment to meet overall objectives.
- Project management skills; experience with Agile, scheduling and resource management.
- Ability to motivate cross-functional, interdisciplinary teams to achieve tactical and strategic goals.

Specific Qualifications Required
Degree qualified in IT, Business, or related discipline; and / or relevant work experience in a similar role.
