The position at a glance

This role acts as a second line of defense to ensure the Bank’s risk-taking aligns with defined risk appetite and internal policies. You will support BNP Paribas' mission by advising on risk appetite and reporting exposure status to Bank Management. Ultimately, you will contribute to the continuous development and growth of the Group's risk culture.

In detail

  • Act as a credit officer for financial institution sectors in the Americas by reviewing comprehensive analyses to recommend credit limits, ratings, and recovery rates.
  • Provide credit opinions and delegations on capital markets and corporate banking transactions to ensure alignment with risk tolerance.
  • Coordinate with Legal, Relationship Managers, and Product Specialists to execute legal documentation by providing credit-sensitive terms and collateral arrangements.
  • Collaborate with Marketers, Traders, and Market Risk teams to structure complex transactions, such as mortgage warehouse facilities, to mitigate diverse forms of risk.
  • Support business line credit requests by challenging credit applications and analysis to establish secure lines of credit.
  • Manage legal documentation integrity by ensuring all necessary guarantees and credit terms are reviewed and in place during annual cycles.
  • Participate in regulatory and internal exercises to coordinate counterparty data for large-scale Group requirements.
  • Monitor industry trends and regulatory shifts to maintain up-to-date knowledge of potential credit, legal, or industry risks.
  • Champion the BNP Paribas Code of Conduct and DEI initiatives by ensuring ethical decision-making and mentoring under-represented groups.

         Bachelors degree in Finance or Economics

  • Minimum 7 years of banking or credit risk experience covering financial institution sectors and products.
  • The knowledge of English and French is required.*
  • Reasoned decision-making when managing high-complexity credit delegations.
  • Collaborative stakeholder management when working with relationship managers, legal, and trading teams.
  • Technical proficiency in advanced Excel or coding to support data analysis and reporting.
  • Responsible conduct in upholding ethical standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Supportive mentorship when fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion within the team.

*Given the vast majority of our clients, both internal and external, are based outside of Quebec and Canada, specific language requirements may apply. Professional working proficiency in French and English languages are required.
