Business Implementation Global Custody Project Manager (H/F)

CONTEXT AND CHALLENGES

Within BNP Paribas Luxembourg, Securities Services department, the Client Implementation Project Manager is in charge of ensuring a smooth execution of fund events with all internal and external stakeholders

WHAT’S YOUR DAY-TO-DAY MISSION?

The type of events under the responsibility of Business Implementation team are as follows but not limited to:

  • Creation of new (sub-) funds
  • Fund migrations In or Out
  • Fund mergers 
  • Prospectus changes 
  • Liquidations
  • Involved structures can be under various laws (UCITS, UCI part II, SIF, RAIF, ELTIF) and involve both traditional and alternative/hybrid structures

 Your main Mission & responsibilities: 

  • To be responsible for the Global Custody (GC) implementation of client onboarding projects allocated to you, these may include new client launches, new client migration in, fund merger, fund liquidation, insurance policy activity and other events linked to changes in the client prospectus. 
  • Organize or participate in regular project conference calls/meetings with clients and external/internal stakeholders to the project.
  • Carry out a detailed gap analysis of client requirements to design the operating model in line with BNPP GC target operating model, explore solutions with business change management team for any deviation to the operating model.
  • Understand the client’s requirements in terms of FX, manage the implementation of liquid and restricted currency set ups and negotiate the required underlying operational documentation.
  • Manage the negotiation and signature of the GC Operating Memorandum and other operational documentation with clients (FX, Corporate actions etc). 
  • Develop a close working and structured relationship with the GC Luxembourg teams to ensure operational set ups and flows are in place and correct, for a seamless transition to ‘business as usual’ mode, ensuring mitigation of any underlying risk. 
  • Lead and coordinate the migration of assets (listed securities and cash) relating to the client event where applicable (in the case of a migration in/out) including the drafting of operational documentation on roles and responsibilities between stakeholders relating to the migration.
  • Work closely with other members of the ‘project team’ (Fund Administration, Transfer Agency, Funds Dealing Services, Depository & Fiduciary Services, Market & Financing Services), ensuring transversal subjects, set ups and dependencies are addressed.
  • Ensure the ‘client event pipeline’ is regularly updated with quality information regarding upcoming implementation projects with regular monitoring of the events in your project portfolio pipeline anticipating any potential capacity issues you may have in managing your projects. 
  • Organize and coordinate connectivity flows (SWIFT, proprietary Neolink platform) with the Client and/or delegates, including testing to ensure day one readiness for transaction flows. 
  • Actively participate in the continuous improvement of the on-boarding process by proposing concrete and pragmatic solutions and leading, as necessary, Post Implementation Reviews.

Your working environment 

  • The position, in a team of 6 currently, is located in Luxembourg. 
  • Work from home and from satellite offices compatible. 
  • This team is part of Business Implementation department (45+ people) gathering end to end project Managers and Operational business project managers. 
  • The role is a client facing role, acting as custody SME on projects. 
  • You are the link between Clients and Custody operational teams. As such, you will interact with a variety of external and internal counterparties.

Professional experience and/or degree

In-depth technical and transversal Global Custody Business Knowledge (5 years minimum experience) in Operations department or business implementation team (non IT role)

Technical skills

  • Knowledge of global custody operations, including trade settlement, cash management, corporate actions and fiscal documentation
  • Strong grasp of market infrastructure (CSDs, ICSDs, sub custodian networks) and of securities markets across multiple jurisdictions
  • Familiarity with SWIFT messaging standards
  • Understanding regulatory requirements impacting custody (CSDR, AIFMD, UCITS etc)
  • Experience with global custody platforms and systems
  • Experience with project management methodologies (Agile, Prince2, PMP) 

Language skills

Fluent English is mandatory as well as a very good command of French.
