About Business line/Function: The role sits within Banking service operations – Global Settlements, part of the Chennai hub of BNP Paribas India solutions private limited. We provide end‑to‑end custody, settlement services to institutional investors, fund managers and broker‑dealers across Asia and Europe. This Global Settlements team is responsible for the full lifecycle of trade settlement, ensuring that all trades are processed, validated and reconciled in line with market cut‑offs, regulatory requirements and the firm’s risk controls.
Position Purpose: To execute accurate, timely and compliant trade‑settlement processing for global client accounts, manage trade‑related queries, perform daily reconciliations and support the team in meeting service‑level agreements, risk and audit standards.
Responsibilities
Direct Responsibilities
- Trade processing & validation – Execute end‑to‑end settlement of trades, prioritize queues, amend/cancel trades and ensure adherence to market zone cut‑offs.
- Repair queue management – Review and manually instruct trades in the repair queue; process Sub‑FX entries for client accounting.
- Reconciliation – Run daily reconciliation checks, investigate breaks and resolve them within agreed timelines.
- Communication with sub‑custodians – Obtain trade status via MT‑548 or email, and communicate updates to account managers.
- Issue tracking – Log, analyse and report failed trades with root‑cause explanations on a daily basis.
- Control & audit compliance – Follow the daily checklist, file required print‑outs and ensure all activities meet risk and audit standards.
Contributing Responsibilities
- Client query handling – Respond to emails, phone calls and “My Queries” tickets raised by account managers.
- SLA adherence – Monitor and meet service‑level agreements for trade processing and issue resolution.
- Reporting – Produce daily status reports for account managers and senior leadership.
- Continuous improvement – Identify process inefficiencies, suggest automation or workflow enhancements and support implementation.
Technical Competencies
- In‑depth understanding of global settlement cycles, nostro and sub‑custodian concepts, market cut‑offs and MT‑548 messaging.
- Proficiency in settlement applications
- Strong MS Excel skills (pivot tables, advanced formulas, macros) and solid Microsoft Office proficiency.
- Ability to perform detailed daily reconciliations and control‑check procedures.
