About Business line/Function: CIB

India COE Compliance Hub: The India CoE Compliance Hub serves as a strategic global partner to Compliance functions, helping safeguard the Group’s reputation and manage risk across all business lines. Organized around specialized service domains, the Hub provides expertise in Financial Security (KYC, Sanctions, and Quality Assurance), Operational Risk & Controls, Conduct, Data Governance, Market Integrity, Operational Efficiency and AI Enablement, and other transversal Compliance activities.

Working in close partnership with stakeholders across geographies and business lines, the Hub drives operational excellence, enhances risk management capabilities, fosters innovation, and supports the execution of the Group’s global Compliance strategy. 

Responsibilities

Direct Responsibilities

The person will be a part of the Transversal Risk Management (TRM) team reporting to Team Lead, Non-FS Controls.

o Perform testing and controls as defined by testing and control procedures under the supervision of TRM Managers or their delegates in order to assess and review compliance with legal, regulatory and firm’s policy and procedure requirements

o Maintain an audit trail for all work carried out during the control testing, reporting and action plan stages

  • Escalate weaknesses identified to TRM Managers for discussion and further investigation if deemed necessary.
  • Draft and validate issues and recommendations addressing the root cause of the issues with stakeholders.
  • Ensure that all findings and recommendations are entered into the appropriate tool for tracking purposes, perform periodic follow-up with stakeholders of open issues and review / validate submitted closure evidence to ensure proper resolution.
  • Report results in Digitized Control Sheets, SharePoint Workflow, CIB/TRM SharePoint Reporting tool & PowerBI dashboards. Ensure to use various tools as rolled out by CIB / TRM-E team from time to time
  • Enhance, deliver, and support the annual TRM Plan, ensuring coverage for existing Firm standards, new regulations, changes to existing regulations, and any audit or exam findings.
  • Achieve objectives within strict time constraints.

Contributing Responsibilities

  • In the spirit of continuous improvement, assist with the identification of potential enhancements to the TRM process, tools, reporting and analytics and provide suggestions on how to improve, add to, or streamline current practices in the firm.
  • Assist the team manager with tasks which may include assisting in testing reviews, preparing materials, organizing meetings, and taking minutes.
  • Respond timely to internal or external requests for information and analysis.

o Assist in responding to regulatory and internal audit queries.

  • Assist with related Compliance monitoring activities as needed.
  • Promote a compliance culture within the firm which supposes also to update knowledge on a regular basis.

Technical & Behavioral Competencies

o Excellent communication and project management skills

o A good understanding of Financial Markets (participants, basic products and activities) and related Compliance topics including AML, Sanctions, KYC, KYI, KYS, KYX, Market Integrity, Market Abuse Surveillance, Swap Dealer, Banking Structural Reforms, Client interest Protection, Client Fiscal Regulations, Professional Ethics topics 

o Team player with interpersonal and teamwork skills

o Self-confidence, ability to stand their ground when required

o Flexibility and adaptability to work on different topics 

Specific Qualifications:

o Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited institution

o Compliance, Audit, Risk Management qualifications.

Skills Referential (Required knowledge, skills and abilities)

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience working for a financial services firm and/or self-regulatory organization in a Compliance Monitoring/Testing, Internal Audit or regulatory related position.
  • Working knowledge of capital markets and investment banking activities and regulatory requirements governing those activities. 
  • Strong analytical, organizational abilities, project management skills and attention to detail.
  • Problem solving, critical thinking, investigative and root cause identification skills. 
  • Advanced computer skills including MS Excel (including macros), Word, and PowerPoint; Power BI is a plus.
  • Excellent execution skills with the ability to work successfully under demanding deadlines. 
  • Team player with ability to work collaboratively across Compliance.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with front and back-office staff and senior management 
  • High ethical standards.
  • Flexibility to adapt to a new and changing environment.

Technical Skills:

o Basic knowledge on AI and python preferred
