Job Title: Assistant Vice President – Sanctions and Embargoes, Level A

Department: India CoE Compliance Hub

About Business line/Function: India CoE Compliance Hub enables safeguarding the Group’s reputation and mitigating the risks across all business lines by supporting the Compliance functions globally. Currently, the India CoE Hub is structured into divisions aligned with the areas they serve, offering services for Group Compliance COO TOP, trade surveillance, electronic communications monitoring, transversal risk management, personal account dealing, MIS, and project support. The team collaborates closely with business partners worldwide.

Position Purpose: The Sanctions and Embargoes Level A Team Leader's role is to lead a Level A Sanctions & Embargoes team. Level A Sanctions & Embargoes Teams perform the first, quick triage of alerts produced by the Group’s Sanctions & Embargoes payments filtering system. Level A Analyst must recognise obvious false hits and release the payments linked to these, escalating other alerts to Level B1 teams for further analysis and investigation.

Responsibilities

· Ensure that the team delivers a timely and accurate delivery of analysis by ensuring alerts are correctly prioritised, promptly reviewed, correctly analysed and the right drop-down menu decisions selected.

· Provide guidance to team members faced with novel and unclear situations in the analysis of alerts.

· Ensure the timely and effective recruitment of team members by pushing forward all stakeholders in the recruitment and onboarding process, selecting candidates judiciously and ensuring a smooth onboarding process for new-joiners.

· Ensure the proper training of newcomers by organising the training plan. 

· Act as a role model to team members in contributing to transversal topics (e.g. sharing of best practice across the Compliance Hub).

· Motivate the Team to contribute to the continuous improvement of processes and tools by encouraging them to identify and measure process inefficiencies or tool deficiencies, escalating these so that proposed changes can be assessed and sharing bet practice with other Compliance Hub Teams.

· Ensure that the teams have the appropriate level of competence, by organising, with Global team, training of new recruits, making sure that the team members have a good understanding of their duties and of the procedures and decision grids, and that the team undertake the training programmes 

· Manage communication with GFS by relaying instructions from Global teams to the local team, ensuring these are well understood and informing Global Teams of anything relevant regarding the local team and the activity.

· Contribute to and follow up on quality assurance actions according to the control framework.

· By assessing performance regularly and providing recommendations on compensation and objectives.

Specific Qualifications:

10+years’ experience in banking & Financial operations covering successful projects planning and delivery preferably in Compliance or Financial domains.

Graduate / Postgraduate in Economics, Finance and Accounting or related field

COMPLIANCE Fircosoft knowledge would be helpful

Location: Chennai

Availability: Able to work Night Shift, including Sundays and Public Holidays
