The position at a glance

The team is part of a global support group to manage daily risk production for credit bureaus, rates and FX exchanges; Including early-of-day risk, actual commercial risk and PnL explains. There are over 1,000 users of the system.

The support team is in constant communication with developers, traders, intermediary teams and support teams aligned to the office. The environment in which we work can be noisy, with frequent and sometimes stressful interruptions. With such a demanding environment, a high level of flexibility, patience and confidence is required. The role can be very rewarding, but it will require a high level of commitment to get started quickly.

The team works closely with its global counterparts, providing support 24/7 [including on call and weekend] and you should be involved in the rotation of escalating office hours (evenings, weekends and public holidays).The business line is state-of-the-art and highly dynamic and we operate in an environment that is responsive to their changing needs.

Team members have the opportunity to broaden their understanding of GM activity and how the front office functions. It is also possible to learn the different technologies used.

In detail

•    Provide technical and functional support to business users, mainly in North America, but also worldwide.

•    Identify, resolve and monitor production incidents, in consultation with the application production support team, business users, infrastructure teams and internal and external support teams.

•    Diagnose and resolve data processing problems.

•    Support technical and business analysts in defining application production problems.

•    Participate in technical analyses, obtaining information on requirements and user acceptance testing for changes in the field of application production support.

•    Participate in disaster recovery trials (evening and weekend work).

•    Support changes in production environments (evening and weekend work).

•    Work with the development team and suppliers to provide temporary solutions and upgrade application platform software.

•    Analyze and improve existing procedures and tasks.

•    Improve the implementation of the Dynatrace service monitoring tool and make missing checks on automation and applications.

•    Analyze and suggest improvements to our current production monitoring and warning process.

•    Maintain existing production-related procedures, processes and tools with a view to improving their efficiency and enabling the Applications Production Support, Montreal World Markets team to perform more value-added tasks.

Work conditions: This position provides for standard working conditions in an office and a normal work schedule from Monday to Friday. This position requires little travel.

•    Provide technical and functional support for 2 Global Markets applications. In coverage schedules between 9 am and 9 pm (in winter from 8 pm to 8 pm) rotating between team members one week out of three.

The strengths and skills that will help you succeed

  • Bachelor to related field.
  • Around 5 years of practice in a production environment, preferable in the financial field.
  • Good technical understanding of SQL; ability to carry out research using descriptive data and to provide updates as necessary.
  • Knowledge of scripting languages.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Analytical, documentation and problem-solving skills.
  • Good organizational skills; concern for customer service.
  • Experience in the financial domain.
  • Knowledge of Unix and Linux.
  • Ability to work in teams and take initiative.
  • Given the vast majority of our clients, both internal and external, are based outside of Quebec and Canada, specific language requirements may apply. Knowledge of French and English is required.
