What is this position about?

•    Analyze the latest changes in rules and regulations and implement the necessary system or procedural changes to meet the changing requirements. 

•    Contributes to TAC/NAC (new product committees) and any other ad hoc projects ensuring local regulatory reporting impact are considered and resolved before product launch or implementation 

•    This involves (a) ensuring compliance with local regulations and legislation for Tax, Legal and with Group regulations defined in policies, procedures, rules and standards, with a particular focus on first level Permanent Control; and (b) ensuring regulatory reporting is prepared accurately and delivered on a timely basis.

What would be your typical day at BNPP Paribas look like? 

Primary Role Responsibilities

•    Regulatory reporting:

o    Study new HKMA returns / surveys for any regulatory changes and initiate/implement system or process changes in order to meet the new requirements

o    Subject matter knowledge in new exposure regulation (Banking Exposure Limits rule) or Liquidity returns.

o    Responsible for HKMA banking return preparation and surveys for BNPP HK independently.

o    Responsible for tax computation.

o    Providing information to HKMA case officer for queries on regular and ad hoc basis  

o    Maintain proper procedure manuals for regulatory reporting.

o    Update quick map tables for Flexel GDR reports to maintain any changes.

o    Perform controls on Flexel reports

o    Perform UAT for any changes to Flexel system or reporting system.

o    Support ad hoc process improvement and other projects assigned by the team head.

•    Policy Maintenance and System Development:

o    Ensures procedure manuals are updated and system implemented meets local regulatory reporting requirement.

•    Financial Controls:

o    Ensures first level controls on local regulatory reporting are properly performed. 

Other contributions

o    Preparation balance sheet information and ALCO materials to local management.

o    Handling of the banking returns audit under section 63(3) and 63(3A) of Banking Ordinance. Provide return preparation walkthrough with auditor during audit review. 

o    Ensures audit recommendations are resolved within the specific timeline.

o    Assist in provision of internal data / management report to senior management / other stakeholders.

o    Work with project teams to identify the project needs and deliverables in alignment with overall Group programme objective.

o    Be responsible for performing regulatory reporting control assessments and enhancement as well as preparing required documentation.

o    Acting as the back-up role to the absence of other teammates

What is required for you to succeed?

Technical and Behavioral Competencies 

•    Deep knowledge of the current HKMA reporting requirements.  Knowledge on LCR/NSFR will be an advantage

•    Exposure to different banking products (GM, GB, WM, etc)

•    Strong accounting knowledge

•    Control oriented mindset

•    Creativity & Innovation/Problem Solving

•    Strong analytical and ability to synthesize and simplify

•    Strong sense of responsibility and commitment

•    Collaborative

•    Ability to prioritize work in a deadline intensive environment and work under pressure

•    Ability to lead and drive initiatives with a structured and focused approach

•    Change Management & Project Management skills is an advantage

•    Proficiency in Excel (VBA, etc)

Education/Certification/Licenses

•    CPA along with a relevant degree preferred.

•    Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in preparing full set of Statutory Reports (Banking Returns) in sizable banking institution

•    Banking returns audit experience will be an advantage

•    Experience in return automation projects such as workflow re-engineering / streamline existing process is an advantage

•    Skilled in data extraction and analysis

•    Fluency in English
