Spain will meet the Czech Republic in Barcelona in the 2009 Final of the Davis Cup by BNP Paribas

Spain, the holder of the Davis Cup by BNP Paribas, will be looking for a second consecutive victory in the competition when it faces the Czech Republic in the Final scheduled for 4–6 December 2009 at the Palau Sant Jordi in Barcelona.

BNP Paribas, the world's number one tennis sponsor, has supported Davis Cup since 2001. This prestigious competition, followed by one billion television viewers and contested by 122 countries from every continent, is a powerful communication vehicle for the Group. It is a unique opportunity for BNP Paribas to reach out to its target groups and to showcase its activities in territories where the Group has a significant presence.

The Group celebrates the 30th anniversary of its operations in Spain this year. Its workforce of over 4,000 people currently serves four million retail customers and 2,500 businesses and institutions in the territory via more than 100 points of sale.
In the Czech Republic, the activities of Corporate & Investment Banking, non-life insurance (Cardif), consumer credit (Cetelem) and car leasing (Arval) are all in the top three of their respective markets.

In keeping with its policy of active partnership, BNP Paribas is taking advantage of the final to organise a major Public Relations operation targeting customers from the Group's 17 operations in Spain.
Lastly, the Group is intensifying promotion in Spain of two online communication programmes. ‘Desafio Tenis' (www.desafiotenis.com) combines customer education in stock-market investment with questions about the history of the Davis Cup. Ace Manager (www.acemanager.bnpparibas.com) – BNP Paribas' ‘serious game' linked with the economics of tennis – aims, meanwhile, to strengthen awareness of the Group in the universities.
