Jean-Paul Sabet appointed Deputy Head of BNP Paribas Group's International Retail Banking arm

Jean-Paul Sabet has been appointed Deputy Head of International Retail Banking (IRB), the division which groups together BNP Paribas' retail banking activities outside the eurozone. In his new role, Jean-Paul Sabet will oversee inter alia the Group's retail banking business in Central & Eastern Europe and Asia, in addition to Turkey, for which he has been responsible since 2010. He will also take charge of IRB's strategy and development.

Jean-Paul Sabet reports directly to Stefaan Decraene, Head of IRB and a member of the BNP Paribas Executive Committee.

Between 2008 and 2010, Jean-Paul Sabet served as COO of Banca Nazionale del Lavoro (BNL), which he joined in 2006 to take charge of the process of integrating BNL into the Group following its acquisition by BNP Paribas. He had previously been a member of the Executive Committee of the Group's French Retail Banking business from 2003 to 2006, in charge of Finance and Strategy. Prior to that post he was for six years a member of the Executive Board of commercial real estate investment specialist Klépierre, after working for two years in General Management at the Société Centrale d'Investissements, a financial holding company subsequently absorbed into BNP Paribas.

Jean-Paul Sabet is a graduate of leading French business school HEC Paris. He spent the early part of his career in the Industrial Department of Paribas and at PAI.
