The Board of Directors of BNP Paribas, during their meeting held on 5 May 2004, on the recommendation of the Compensation and Appointments Committee, has co-opted Jean-François Lepetit as director.
Jean-François Lepetit has spent most of his career within the Indosuez Group (27 years) and thereafter with BNP (3 years) and has played a major role in the development of financial market operations in France. He was in particular Chairman of the Conseil du Marché à terme, Chairman of the Conseil des marchés Financiers and Chairman of the Commission des Opérations de Bourse (COB). Because Jean-François Lepetit chaired the COB for more than one year, he sought and obtained a favourable opinion from the Commission de déontologie de la Fonction Publique de l'Etat (State Civil Service Ethics Committee) in view of this appointment.
