On Wednesday 13 April, the Indian team CeleStar won the final of Ace Manager – The Third Set, the third edition of the BNP Paribas online game.
The five teams to compete in the final had finished top in the first stage of the online game, which ran from 15 February to 15 March this year.
On the day, each team faced a final challenge before a jury composed of professors from participating universities and schools and members of the BNP Paribas Group's senior management*.
The final took place in two stages: during the first part of the day, the players worked on three finance cases related to the Group's activities: Retail Banking, Corporate and Investment Banking, and Investment Solutions. In the afternoon, BNP Paribas challenged the contestants to imagine the bank of the future (a view of the banking profession and developments in the sector over the next 5 years).
Michel Pébereau, Chairman of the BNP Paribas Group, presented the awards at a ceremony held in the Orangerie.
The final rankings are as follows:
1/ CeleStar, composed of 3 Indian students from the Indian Institute of Management in Calcutta.
2/ London City Boys, composed of 3 students, one from Luxembourg, another from Belarus, and the third from Italy, studying at the Cass Business School in London.
3/ Posteros, composed of 3 students, two from Georgia and one from Poland, studying at the ESADE Business School in Barcelona.
4/ Ares, composed of 3 students, one from Denmark and two from France, studying at the Business School of Copenhagen and the Ecole Supérieure de Commerce in Rouen respectively.
5/ A.M.C.A., composed of 2 Italian students (the third was absent due to exams), studying at the Università Bocconi in Milan.
Ace Manager – The Third Set had almost 13,000 participants from 140 countries this year.
All the finalist teams received awards. The three top teams won €9,000, €3,000 and €1,500 respectively. Tennis tickets were also awarded to the finalists. In addition – and for the first time – BNP Paribas offered each member of the top three finalist teams a broad range of international internship opportunities in the Group's three core businesses.
“Ace Manager - The Third Set” was designed by experts from BNP Paribas and is part of the strategy to strengthen the Group's reputation and appeal to young people. This game is particularly useful outside France, where our name is already well-known among business customers, and, in some countries, among private clients, but is not so familiar to students. The goal of BNP Paribas is to become a highly sought after employer among students worldwide.
This game promotes – in an entertaining way – the central role played by the banking profession in providing financing for its customers' projects in real world situations.
To strengthen our brand recognition and appeal to students in the finest universities and schools throughout the world, BNP Paribas has capitalised on the world of tennis (the sport has long been closely associated with our name due to our international sponsorship role, which goes back almost 40 years) and our strong ability to recruit and offer rewarding career opportunities. BNP Paribas now has 68% of its employees and clients outside of France, actively recruits all over the world for a wide range of talent, and offers an array of over 300 different professional areas.
