Guido van HAUWERMEIREN has been appointed co-head of the Emerging Markets Business line of the International Retail Banking and Financial Services core business

Guido van Hauwermeiren has been appointed co-head of the Emerging Markets business line of the International Retail Banking and Financial Services core business. Based in Paris, he reports directly to Pierre Mariani, head of the Core business. In this position he will be specifically in charge of Eastern Europe, Asia and Latin America.

Guido Van Hauwermeiren, 45, has an American MBA and a Master's Degree in Management. He began his career at Crédit Lyonnais in the International division, as head of the United Kingdom and Ireland region. He then moved to Credito Bergamasco (an Italian subsidiary of Crédit Lyonnais) where he was head of the Large Corporate Division and the Milan Business Centre. He pursued his career at the international level, first in Mexico, where he was the General Representative for Mexico and Central America at Crédit Lyonnais Americas, then in the United States where he was Head of the Midwest and Director of the Chicago Branch.
On his return to France, he took over as Head of European Corporate Development at Calyon Corporate & Investment Bank. He then joined Cetelem, the consumer finance specialist of BNP Paribas, in 2006 as Director of the Eurasia−North Africa Region and Member of its Executive Committee. He joined the International Retail Banking and Financial Services core business in last September.

The International Retail Banking and Financial Services core business is comprised of four business lines, including BNP Paribas subsidiaries and branches with well known brand names that are often leaders in their markets. Its networks in the United States (20 States) and Emerging Markets (33 countries in Eastern Europe, Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and French Overseas Departments and Territories) serve as a platform for the deployment of the specialized financial services business lines (Equipment Solutions, BNP Paribas Personal Finance), and more generally for all the business lines of the BNP Paribas Group.
The International Retail Banking and Financial Services core business has over 66,500 employees in 58 countries.
