GENERAL MANAGEMENT APPOINTMENTS AT BNP PARIBAS PERSONAL FINANCE

At a meeting on 12 June, the Board of Directors of BNP Paribas Personal Finance appointed Alain van Groenendael as Chairman and Laurent David as Chief Executive Officer of the company. In these roles they succeed Thierry Laborde, who on 4 May 2015 was appointed Deputy Chief Operating Officer of BNP Paribas in charge of Domestic Markets.

Laurent David now joins the BNP Paribas Executive Committee. Alain van Groenendael joins the Management Committees of both International Financial Services and Retail Banking at BNP Paribas.

The BNP Paribas Personal Finance Board of Directors also appointed Jean-Marie Bellafiore as Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the company.

The Board members expressed their thanks to Thierry Laborde for the key contribution he made to the transformation and growth of BNP Paribas Personal Finance during his leadership of the company from 2008 until this year.

Jean-Laurent Bonnafé, Chief Executive Officer of BNP Paribas said, ‟These appointments indicate the confidence we have in the BNP Paribas Personal Finance management team, developed by Thierry Laborde over recent years.”

Jacques d’Estais, Deputy Chief Operating Officer of BNP Paribas, in charge of International Financial Services, added: ‟I’m sure that the complementary talents brought by Alain and Laurent to their respective roles will help to drive further development at BNP Paribas Personal Finance, which is one of the Group’s growth areas at an international level. The appointment of Jean-Marie completes the General Management team."

Alain van Groenendael, 54, a Belgian national, has 30 years’ international experience in financial services in Brussels, London, Amsterdam and Paris. He worked for a large part of his career at Citibank, becoming CEO of Retail Banking, Western Europe and a member of the Citigroup Management Committee. He has also held the posts of Chairman of the Loans and Financial Services Division at the PPR Group, and Chairman & CEO of Finaref. Since December 2008, Alain has served as Board member and Deputy Chief Executive Officer of BNP Paribas Personal Finance, in charge of International Business and Marketing. During this time Alain successfully led the international growth of PF and forged a number of strategic partnerships in the field of financial services, automobile finance and distribution. He is a graduate of the l’Institut Catholique des Hautes Etudes Commerciales (ICHEC) in Brussels and also holds a qualification as Sales Engineer from the Université Saint-Louis in Brussels.

Laurent David, 45, began his career at the French Ministry for the Economy, Finance and Industry in 1995. He was seconded to the Ministry for Industry department in Lower Normandy, and then worked at the national Tax Office before serving as a Technical Advisor from 2000 to 2002 in the private office of Florence Parly and then Laurent Fabius. He joined the BNP Paribas Group in 2002, working at Cardif. He became responsible for management planning and control, then Head of the Cardif France network and partnerships in France, sitting as a member of the Executive Committee. In 2007 Laurent David joined BNP Paribas International Retail Banking as Chief Operating Officer. From 2009 to 2013, he served as CEO of Findomestic, the BNP Paribas Personal Finance subsidiary in Italy, which ranks among the country’s leaders in consumer credit. He successfully led an industrial transformation plan between 2010 and 2012. Since 2013, Laurent has been working as Chief Operating Officer of BNP Paribas Personal Finance. In 2014, he took over the Operational Management of the BNP Paribas Personal Finance businesses in France and was in July that year appointed CEO of the LaSer Group and LaSer Cofinoga. He is a graduate of the prestigious higher education institute École Polytechnique and holds a degree in Mining Engineering.

Jean-Marie Bellafiore, 52, has worked for the BNP Paribas Group throughout his entire career. In 1987 he joined Paribas Securities Services, then served in various posts in the administration and operations of Paribas, before being appointed Head of Central Administration at Paribas in 1998. When Paribas merged with BNP in 1999, Jean-Marie took charge of central management of the integration process. In March 2002 he was put in charge of implementing the BNP Paribas 2002-2005 Strategic Plan. He was appointed Head of Human Resources, IT and Operations at BNP Paribas Personal Finance in May 2005, joining the Executive Committee. Then in March 2009, Jean-Marie Bellafiore took over as Head of the Northern Europe region. Since June 2012, he has been Head of the euro zone at BNP Paribas Personal Finance. He is a graduate of the Institut des Hautes Études de l'Entreprise and the Institut d'Etudes Supérieures de l'Organisation (CNAM), and holds a Master degree in Economic Sciences (Université Paris Sorbonne).
