BNP Paribas and BNL are pleased to announce that Fabio Gallia will join BNP Paribas Group and BNL on October 1, 2007 to succeed Mario Girotti as General Manager of BNL from January 1, 2008. He will also be appointed member of the Executive Committee of BNP Paribas in 2008.
Since August 2005, Fabio Gallia, 44, has been Managing Director of Banca di Roma and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Capitalia Group which he joined in March 2002 as Deputy CEO in charge of Finance and Wealth Management. In 2003, he also became Managing Director of Fineco, its listed broking and online banking subsidiary.
Fabio Gallia started his career as a consultant before spending 12 years as partner, Chief Investment Officer and then CEO of Ersel Asset Management, part of the Giubergia Group, a leading independent financial company in Italy. Born in Alessandria, Italy, he graduated in Economics and Business at the University of Turin.
Mario Girotti, 63, has spent his whole career at BNL becoming its General Manager in 2003. He began his career in Italy before moving overseas as director successively of the Hong Kong subsidiary, the Brazil branch and the Argentina branch. He returned to Italy as BNL's marketing director in 1998. Mario Girotti played a key role during the reorganisation of BNL in 2003/2005 and also during the initial development and integration stage following BNP Paribas' takeover of BNL in 2006.
Mario Girotti will join the Board of BNL during 2008.
