BNP Paribas is pleased to announce that Dr. Erhard Schipporeit will join BNP Paribas as Senior Advisor in February 2007. He will advise the Chairman and the management of the Group on a European level, with a special focus on the development of the bank's business with German corporates and financial institutions.
Dr. Schipporeit has a broad experience in various industries and was most recently CFO of E.ON until the end of November 2006. He was formerly a member of the management board of VIAG, which merged with VEBA to create E.ON in 2000. Prior to that he worked 16 years for VARTA, where he rose to become its CEO.
Commenting on the mandate of Dr. Schipporeit, Jacques d'Estais, head of BNP Paribas' Corporate and Investment Banking core business said: “As we dominate our domestic market in CIB businesses, our strategy is now to focus on other European countries. Germany is one of the main European countries, along with Italy, Spain and the UK, where we want to strenghthen our positions. Erhard will help us develop our relationships with leading German corporates and financial institutions and help us attract new business.”
