Dr. Andrew Freris joins BNP Paribas as Chief Economist for Asia

The Management of BNP Paribas Hong Kong is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Andrew Freris as Chief Economist for Asia-Pacific, excluding Japan, within the BNP Paribas Fixed Income Business Line.

This new position, based in Hong Kong, is to place BNP Paribas among the leading financial institutions to advise our clients on Asian markets environment and dynamics, and be a point of reference for the growth in Asia/Pacific of the Forex, Derivatives and Bond client activities.

While Andrew will be part of Fixed Income Business Line, he will contribute to promote the Asian Economist vision of BNP Paribas across all BNP Paribas clientele and business lines, regionally and globally.

Prior to joining BNP Paribas, Dr Freris was Managing Director, Asia Research, with Bank of America (1997-2000), Chief Regional Economist with Salomon Brothers (HK), 1993-1997 and Senior Economist with GT Management (HK), 1990-1993. Prior to these posts, Dr Freris taught economics at the London Guidhall University and at the City University of Hong Kong where he was the Head of the Economists and Finance Department. Dr Freris holds degrees from the London School of Economics.
