Didier Chappet, formerly Chief Operating Officer, was appointed Chief Executive Officer of UCB. Louis Demange succeeded him as Chief Operating Officer.
Didier Chappet, 46, is an alumnus of the Ecole Polytechnique (1974) and ingénieur du Corps des Ponts et Chaussées au Ministère de l'Equipement (1979-1984).
Mr. Chappet joined the Compagnie Bancaire in 1984, has been a member of UCB's Management Committee since 1991, and was promoted Chief Operating Officer on 1st January 1999.
Louis Demange, 52, is a graduate of the Ecole Supérieure de Commerce de Paris (1972).
Mr. Demange joined BNP in 1972 working in several domestic branch before moving to the bank's General Inspection. Head of Branches groups in Tours and Nice, he was appointed Director of the Regional network in Lille in 1994.
