Christian Dargnat joins BNP Paribas Asset Management as Chief Investment Officer

Based in Paris, Christian Dargnat is a member of the Asset Management Business Executive Committee and reports directly to the Chairman of BNPP AM, Gilles Glicenstein.

He has overall responsibility for and approves the definition of BNPP AM's investment policy and, together with all the asset management heads, ensures the smooth and efficient functioning of the business, based on the concerted efforts of the teams.

"BNP Paribas's asset management business, which has been pursuing a multi-specialisation strategy for a number of years now, brings together various complementary competencies and structures which enjoy a high degree of autonomy within both BNPP AM itself and its specialist subsidiaries. One of the tasks I have assigned to Christian Dargnat will therefore be to encourage interactions, so as to enhance the generation of performance", Gilles Glicenstein, Chairman and CEO of BNPP AM, explains.

Another of Christian Dargnat's roles will be to strengthen the synergies between BNPP AM's asset management teams, sales teams and marketing. He will participate in the development of a comprehensive range of products, in association with Philippe Lespinard, who has overall functional responsibility for the business's bond management teams.

Christian Dargnat, aged 40, brings to BNP Paribas Asset Management 17 years of experience in the field of investment strategy and asset management. He began his professional career at Banque Internationale de Placement, where he held various positions before becoming the bank's chief economist in 1994. He joined the Crédit Agricole group the following year to set up the strategy department. In 1999 he was appointed CIO of the group's Italian asset management subsidiary in Milan. In 2003 he took over as head of balanced management and strategy for the new enlarged entity arising from the merger of Crédit Agricole Asset Management and Crédit Lyonnais Asset Management and joined Head Office in Paris.
In 2004 he was appointed head of equity management, balanced management and convertible bond and arbitrage products at Crédit Agricole Asset Management.
