Hans-Rudolf Schaub has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of BNP (Suisse) SA, one of the four BNP Paribas Group companies in Switzerland.

At its meeting in Basle on 16 March 2001, the Board of Directors of BNP (Suisse) SA appointed Hans-Rudolf Schaub to the post of Chief Executive Officer. He replaces André Kessler, who has opted to devote himself exclusively to the post of Country Manager operating in Switzerland in the various Boards of Directors of the Group businesses. Aged 55, Hans-Rudolf Schaub has until now been in charge of Private and Institutional Clients and Deputy Chief Executive Officer of BNP (Suisse) SA.

The appointment is part of the merger and integration process, principally involving wealth management activities, which is currently under way in the various divisions of the BNP Paribas Group in Switzerland. The process of merging the Group's private banking activities in Switzerland, under the aegis of the Management Committee of BNP (Suisse) SA, will culminate in October 2001 in the creation of a new foreign private bank in Switzerland which will combine the strengths of each of the original companies: BNP Paribas Private Bank (Suisse) SA.

Hans-Rudolf Schaub joined BNP (Suisse) SA in 1994, after having occupied a number of management positions in Swiss and European banks in a range of locations including Basle,
Singapore, Paris, Zurich and New York.
