BNP Paribas Securities Services, a global custodian with USD 11 trillion in assets under custody, has appointed Thorsten Gommel as Head of BNP Paribas Securities Services for Germany and Austria. He will join the bank in April 2019.
Thorsten joins BNP Paribas Securities Services from PwC, where he has been a partner since 2010, leading the professional services firm’s asset and wealth management sector in Germany and its consulting business in asset and wealth management across EMEA.
Thorsten will be responsible for leading the development of the BNP Paribas Securities Services franchise in Germany and Austria and will head the experienced and successful team located in Frankfurt. BNP Paribas has been the market-leading depositary bank in Germany since 2012 and has been expanding rapidly in the country in recent years.

Thorsten will be based in Frankfurt and will report to Alessandro Gioffreda, Head of Continental Europe for BNP Paribas Securities Services, and locally to Lutz Diederichs, Chairman of the BNP Paribas Group Management Board Germany.
