BNP Paribas promotes Tom Kennedy to Head of London Equity Syndicate desk and Bertrand Lussigny to Head of Paris Equity Syndicate desk - Reorganisation of BNPP's Primary Equity Business

Paris/London - BNP Paribas has promoted Tom Kennedy to Head of the Equity Syndicate desk in London, reporting to Simon Piney, Global Head of Equity Capital Markets ("ECM"). This is a change in the organisation of BNPP's primary equity business as until now, Equity Syndicate was part of Global Equities while ECM is part of the Corporate Finance division. Both equity origination and execution are now part of Corporate Finance.

Kennedy, 34, joined the bank in August last year from Deutsche Bank where he was a Vice President on Deutsche Bank's Equity Syndicate desk where he had worked since 1995. Prior to that he had worked for a year in the Equity division at Goldman Sachs. In between 1986 and 1994, he worked in Equities at SG Warburg, during which time he rose to the rank of Director.

Bertrand Lussigny, 27, will be transferring from London to take up the post of Head of Paris Equity Syndicate with effect from the 1st September. He will also report to Simon Piney. Bertrand joined BNP Paribas in 1997 where he worked on the origination side of the Corporate Banking department specialising in Structured finance. In March 2000, he joined the Equity Syndicate team in Paris, before transferring to the London team in July of that year.

Commenting on these changes, Simon Piney said: "This is an important move designed to align better our primary equity resources. This alignment is all the more important in the light of the substantial investment programme recently announced in both our primary and secondary equity franchises."
