BNP Paribas has signed with Metro SA (Chile) a credit agreement to finance a program aiming at doubling the network of the Santiago Metro, with the first phase representing an investment amount of around USD 1 billion.
The ceremony took place in the presence of Mr. Ricardo Lagos, President of the Republic of Chile. Ricardo Azocar, General Manager of Metro SA and Jacques Desponts, Head of International Trade at BNP Paribas, have signed the agreement.
BNP Paribas is arranging this financing in the form of a multisource export credit of USD 650 Million, with sourcing from France, Germany, Belgium, Spain and Austria. Those credits will allow Metro SA to finance the contracts for civil works, rolling stock and other equipment of this program.
This transaction confirms the position of BNP Paribas as sole arranger of external financings for Metro SA since 1970.
