BNP Paribas is pleased to announce a number of hires and organisational changes it has made in its Equity Capital Markets (ECM) group, part of its Corporate Finance division.
Thierry Olive , 33, becomes Head of Equity-linked ECM, reporting to Howard Jones, Global Head of ECM. Olive was previously a senior member of ECM France. He will spearhead BNP Paribas' continuing drive in convertibles and exchangeables, where the bank has enjoyed a very successful 2000.
Jonathan Joe, 39, joins as Head of Emerging Markets ECM, responsible for Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa and reporting to Howard Jones. Joe was previously an Executive Director and Head of CEE Corporate Finance at Daiwa SBCM where he spent the last 7 years. The emerging markets effort is further reinforced by Alessandro Martinatto, 28, who joins from Fox-Pitt-Kelton where he was an Analyst.
Richard Bryant, 38, becomes European Head of Private Equity Placements, the group within ECM responsible for pre-IPO placements with third parties, reporting to Global Head Charles Nettlefold. Bryant has worked in Private Equity and Leveraged Finance for over 12 years, most recently with Merrill Lynch International, where he was a Director in European Leveraged Finance for 2 years.
Jörg Krome, 38, joins ECM as Co-Head of Northern European ECM where he will work alongside Co-Head Daniel Weisslinger, both reporting to Howard Jones. Krome comes from Dresdner Kleinwort Benson Frankfurt where he was a Sector Team Leader within the Frankfurt Corporate Finance group, as well as being an Assistant Director. Krome had been at DrKB for over 10 years. Also joining ECM from DKB are Lars Stiewe, from Frankfurt and Joakim Tangsrud, 30, from London.
Elsewhere Lorenzo Langella, 29, from Intermobiliare, where he spent 1 ½ years, also joins the ECM team based in London, as part of the continuing strengthening of the Italian ECM effort. In addition, Arnaud Bacot joins the ECM France group in Paris from Crédit Lyonnais reporting to ECM France Head Jean-Claude Ropiquet.
Commenting on these hires, Jones said, "BNP Paribas has been recruiting heavily in key ECM products and countries and continues to expand an already strong group, reflecting a full pipeline of international primary business."
