BNP Paribas equity stake in Axa exceeds 5%

As part of the management of its portfolio of publicly traded shares, BNP Paribas has increased its holdings of Axa capital and voting rights above the 5% threshold. Its stake in Axa now represents 5.80% of the capital and 5.07% of the voting rights of Axa. BNP Paribas does not anticipate any increase in its stake beyond that level.

The agreement dated 15 December 2005 between Axa and BNP Paribas provides that, for at least five years, the BNP Paribas group will keep 61,587,465 Axa shares, or 3.3% of the capital. The rest of the BNP Paribas stake does not fall under that agreement, and is being actively managed with a view toward optimizing financial and asset values. Its impact on the group's regulatory ratios is not significant.
