BNP Paribas dissolves joint-ventures with Dresdner Bank in Central and Eastern Europe

After dissolving the joint ventures with Dresdner Bank in Central and Eastern Europe, BNP Paribas will implement a regional business organisation, consisting of wholly owned entities (except for Bulgaria), that will be dedicated to the development of its world-wide operating lines of business.

This organisation will include the three banking subsidiaries located in Poland, Hungary, and in Bulgaria. In the first two countries, the Representative Offices, which had been kept in operation until now, will promptly integrate these banking entities.

In order to strengthen its presence in the Region, BNP Paribas will review the possibility to open a subsidiary in Moscow. It will be mainly dedicated to servicing its clients, in particular those active in the energy and commodities sectors.

This setup will be complemented by the existing Representative Offices located in Prague, Bratislava, Bucharest as well as Kiev and Tashkent. BNP Paribas is considering the opening in the near future of new Representative Offices in Zagreb and Belgrade.

BNP Paribas, through its network in Central and Eastern Europe will have the capability to develop its corporate and investment banking activities, as well as providing to its other core businesses basis to maintain and develop their presence within the region.
