BNP Paribas Corporate and Investment Banking announces key appointments within Structured Finance

BNP Paribas Corporate and Investment Banking (CIB) announces key appointments within its Structured Finance business line. The objective is to increase the efficiency of the business model in order to better meet the clients' expectations. Dominique Remy, Head of Structured Finance, is pleased to announce the following appointments:

Prema Balakrishnan, currently Head of Energy & Commodities, Asset and Project Finance Australia, is appointed Head of Project Finance. She will be based in Paris.

Charlotte Conlan, currently Head of Leveraged Finance and Media & Telecom Finance Origination for Loan Syndications & Trading for Europe Middle East and Africa, is appointed Head of Origination and Sales for Loan Syndications & Trading for Europe, Middle East and Africa. She is based in London.

Emmanuel Rogy, currently Head of Project Finance, is appointed Head of Energy & Commodity Finance for Europe Middle East and Africa. He is based in Paris.

Andrew Shapiro, currently Head of Corporate Acquisition Finance and Value Preservation Group for the Americas, is appointed Head of Loan Syndications and Trading. In addition, Andrew is appointed Head of Structured Finance UK. He will be based in London.

Within BNP Paribas CIB, Structured Finance employs over 2.000 professionals in 40 countries worldwide and has strong expertise and franchises in energy and commodity financing, asset financing (aircraft, maritime, real estate), export financing, leveraged financing, project financing, corporate acquisition financing, trade financing, cash management and loan syndications & Trading.




Appendix: biographies

Prema Balakrishnan started her career in the Bank in 1988. She has more than 22 years of experience in Corporate and Investment Banking covering Project Finance, Corporate & Syndicated Financing and Credit, and was a founding member of the Project Finance team in Australia. With the creation of the Structured Finance business unit, Prema became the Head of Energy & Commodities, Asset and Project Finance for Australia in 2008, which is one of the key businesses for BNP Paribas in Australia. Prior to joining the Bank in 1988, Prema worked in Asia at Ernst & Young in Corporate Reconstruction and Audit. She commenced her banking career in Malaysia.

Charlotte Conlan joined BNP Paribas in 2000 as Head of Leveraged Syndications for Europe Midde East Africa (EMEA). She subsequently took responsibility for the syndication of all structured Media & Telecom finance and Infrastructure deals for the EMEA region. She joined the Bank from Greenwich NatWest.

Emmanuel Rogy joined BNP Paribas in 1993 in Milan and then moved to Paris in the EMEA Project Finance group. In 2004 he became Deputy Head of Energy Finance for EMEA and in 2007, Global Head of the newly formed Project Finance Infrastructure group. Following the reorganisation of the Project Finance group and the integration of Fortis, Emmanuel was head of Project Finance since 2008.

Andrew Shapiro has held numerous positions with BNP Paribas in New York over a 15 year period. Andrew has been Head of Corporate Acquisition Finance, Americas since 2004, and Head of Value Preservation Group, Americas since 2009. Andrew also served as co-head of Loan & High Yield Capital Markets, Americas from 2007-2009, and as a senior member of the Loan Syndications & Trading group from 1996-2004. Prior to that, he was a Senior Credit Officer from 1996-1998. Andrew began his career with Swiss Bank, where he worked for 8 years in Leveraged Finance and, subsequently, as a restructuring banker.
