BNP Paribas CIB appoints Torsten Murke as Deputy Country Head for Germany and Head of Investment Banking Germany


BNP Paribas Corporate and Investment Banking (“CIB”) announces the appointment of Torsten Murke as Deputy Country Head for Germany and Head of Investment Banking Germany. Torsten will also be a member of BNP Paribas Germany Branch Management.

Torsten will have responsibility for Investment Banking Europe (IBE) and Corporate Finance teams in Germany. He will report to Thierry Varène, Head of Investment Banking Europe and member of the BNP Paribas CIB Executive Committee, and locally to Joachim von Schorlemer, Country Head for Germany. Berthold Müller, Head of Corporate Finance Germany, will report to Thierry Olive, Head of Corporate Finance Europe and locally to Torsten Murke.

Torsten will join the Bank on October 1st and will be based in Frankfurt.

Torsten's appointment clearly supports the growth plan of BNP Paribas for Germany which is fully backed by the top management of the Bank. It also evidences the ambition of BNP Paribas for developing its investment banking activities in Europe.

IBE is in charge of the coverage of the large corporates, of major private equity funds and of the large FIG clients, in France, Italy, Germany, Spain, Switzerland, the Netherlands and the UK.

Corporate Finance is a worldwide business line responsible for M&A and ECM within BNP Paribas CIB.

Torsten Murke spent his entire career in investment banking. Prior to joining BNP Paribas, he was a Managing Director at Credit Suisse and Co-Head of the Investment Banking Department covering Germany and Austria. Before, he was a partner at Lazard and worked at J.P. Morgan both in London and Frankfurt.
