BNP Paribas is delighted to announce that Baudouin Prot, Chief Executive Officer of BNP Paribas has been awarded the ‘Social & Corporate Responsibility' award by the Foreign Policy Association. Founded in 1918, the Foreign Policy Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to serving as a catalyst for developing awareness, understanding and informed opinion on U.S. foreign policy and global issues.
Noel Lateef, President and CEO of the Foreign Policy Association (FPA), stated that the FPA's Corporate Social Responsibility Award is the highest recognition that the Association confers for good corporate citizenship, noting the extraordinary efforts of BNP Paribas and its employees in extending assistance to the victims of Hurricane Katrina in Louisiana and adjacent states.
Baudouin Prot was named Chief Executive Officer of BNP Paribas in June 2003. He has been with the firm for almost 25 years having started working for BNP in 1983. From August 1999, he led the merger process between BNP and Paribas which has long been successfully completed. In 2006, Baudouin Prot was elected “Financier of the year” in France for the success of the acquisition of Italian-based BNL (Banca Nazionale del Lavoro) which was conducted in a record time providing BNP Paribas a second retail market in Europe, and for the quality of the group results. BNP Paribas has enjoyed sharp growth in its international business and is now one of the world's 15 leading banks.
Prior to his current position he was President and Chief Operating Officer since 1996. He has been a member of the BNP Paribas Board of Directors since March 2000. He was a member of the Board of Bank of the West, BNP Paribas' retail subsidiary in the United States from 1987 to 1993.
